I feel its a very wrong notion that only drama brings in trp....yes it helps in getting money. but let them try once atleast and see if just music brings trp ot not.....and if it does then they can always get the revenue from the advts.

Didi I am all for the old format from my perspective. I have no qualms. But I dont believe after the channels have tasted blood they would want to go back to that old format 100%. See, when they invest they want returns too. Most junta viewing the show would prefer added masala also. When they find that missing they simply slip out switching over tot he channel offering that. Nihira got out so early not because she was a bad singer but simply because she appealed less to the voting junta, who wanted more presence/performance. EMAET was one of the silliest reality shows that we saw, but revenue wise it was a big hit, why? because the junta liked all that drama .

When I watched the SRGM, many others my age, preferred to let go of the show saying that is a oldies show, too boring. But today here ask any small kid, that fellow knows who vineet is, who aneek is. The old format works as we saw in the classical round, but I dont think the channles want to take that risk. For a local channel may be they are willing but for a global channel , really dont know. But if it does then nothing like it.

If a singer is really talented & good does he need to go through the exercise of these TV circuses to prove himself,

Yes these shows help somewhat trishanku...they help in putting these very talents in glare. U need not win the contest...but by taking part and being among the top say 7 u get noticed by the music industry. Rest now your talent will help u to go ahead. best example being Nihira and Hemchandra....i personally feel those two were the best from c-2005 and though they didnt win but are doing the best among all. And fact is they got noticed because of this very show.

Actually if you see, the two former hosts of the show Sonu Nigam and Shaan, both hit stardom after hosting the show. Until the show both were struggling to get a foothold.

I feel that the current SRGMP mentor based format is the best to involve the viwers and it definitely generate high degree of motivation for mentors as well as the participants. I feel in this process the participants benefit a lot even if they do not win.

I feel the SMS voting system involves audience and increases a show's popularity. I don't want srgmp or any reality show to go back to jury decision show. Instead they should either make it 50-50, jury+audience SMS and make it one SMS per phone voting. That would reduce voting booths and fanatic voting.

They should cut down on the personal life drama as much as possible. funny spoof of the participants is Ok, like they had shown the Musarrat riyaaz, aneek jumping into well etc...but personal stories should be a strict no no.... when we go to office we leave home and problems behind , same way their personal life shopuld be their individual problem and not every body's.

The votiing should be limited to say only 6 hours after the show. The result should be based on a 50-50 judgement.

I agree going by the old format 100% may get boring for a huge section....thats why they can hv this celebrity part. I dnt mind at all about these film audios getting released stuff...maybe 1-2 dances would also do no issues.😆 but the shouting, cat-dog fighting, luv trinagles....I dnt think they help in trp thing...thats what i meant when i made that post.

Also we need to keep one more thing in mind....srgmp now has got the req. advt. Its a well known show....during that time it was not such a well known globally known show. with the help of other media channels the show can always get the rec. advt to get more viewers. this is something that was lagging in the early stages of the show.

Yes, this SMSing can be limited to certain no of max SMS per unique phone id.

Another thing i would like to be introduced is to allow a very short time to vote after the show is aired to reduce multiple voting.

Indian Idol voting is only for 24 hrs but that doesn't stop fanatic voters. As long as one SMS one phone doesnt come into the picture, we can't stop voting booths.
