I agree that the contest is over, Aneek has been declared the winner and we should all move on. But the controversies generated are not only unfortunate but also need a sort of "closure".
What has surprised me is that, right up to the Finals, none of us (on this forum) had any idea about such controversies. All of us thought that everything is simple, straightforward and aboveboard ---we just have to keep on voting and everything will be taken care of.
All these doubts have surfaced only after the Finals. In the circumstances, there is a certain responsibility devolving on the Channel --- they ought to have made things very clear right from the start. Though the Zee spokesman (Ashish Kaul ?) has tried to give some sort of explanation, it is not quite satisfactory. The principal question is : was everyone (and I am specifically including members of this Forum) fully aware of the voting systems being followed by the Channel and whether the same system (whatever it was) was adhered to throughout the Competition ? I don't think there is or can be a positive answer to this poser.
It is only after the Finals that we have been told that SMS/Votes from some particular region or regions were not "eligible" for inclusion in the counting. The question is : did the people/voters in these regions clearly told that their SMS?Votes would not be counted ? I don't think anybody in this Forum had any idea about this, right up to the Finals. Does it not mean that people/music-lovers/voters from these regions were kept in the dark (deliberately, perhaps) ? Is it not a shame that all these voters wasted so much of their time, effort and money (maybe running into crores of rupees or other currency) in sending futile votes and SMS ?
Results apart, the Channel needs to answer these questions in a clear and candid fashion. And if there was a mistake somewhere, they should own it up in good grace.
