His Tarana was superb, excellent, fantastic, mindblowing 😛 I seriously had goosing bumps that episode with Amanat stealing the show closely followed by Aneek..

I'm sure it was but the same cannot be stated of his rapping, which was a dreadful and dire piece of oral execution and distressful to the ear. Please, bring in the careers adviser.

3 words from me. Sing, don't rap.

You remember his rapping, but don't remember his tarana in Laaga Chunari Mein Daag. 😆

On the contrary, I remember his tarana very well but that does not in any way justify his absolutely horrible, sub-standard execution of rap lyrics.

Rapping is not rocket science. Aneek will learn to rap but will rappers learn to sing a tarana?

Eggjactly my thoughts

But looking at the present Hindi film music scenario it seems we may need more rappers than those having good knowledge of Indian music.😊

That was a good one. I don't care if he can rap or not, he is a great singer

"Rapping is not rocket science." It's clearly an ignorant remark to make, possibly resulting from your failure to appreciate the vocal techniques and delivery needed to skilfully execute a rap. With that type of attitude (which I suspect Anik had the audacity to delude himself into thinking), it's no wonder that Aneek sounded exceedingly bad.

"Will rappers learn to sing a taraana?" I don't quite understand the logic of your second statement. Rapping and singing are both very powerful forms of expression and this question is really an individual choice rather than one's ability, be it a rapper or taraana singer, to master a particular art. The answer to this question therefore really depends on the vocal dexterity of the musical artist as well as their choice of vocal expression.

I was referring to his rapping- not his tarana in Laaga Chunari Mein Daag. Rapping is clearly not Anik's forte and so to incorporate this form of musical expression without having mastered the fundamentals, though brave, was premature and ill-advised. The artform of rapping requires many facets of vocal skills and his attempt though admirable was, from a professional viewpoint, lacking delivery.

😕

Art form? Many facets of vocal skills?

Whoa, and I used to think that Rapping were random bursts of energy after eating too many beans.

At regular intervals.

"we may need more rappers than those having good knowledge of Indian music." This is a most bizarre and baffling statement and makes little sense. I fail to see why musical artists or in your case "rappers" not be synonymous with a good knowledge of Indian music. Isn't possible to study and learn about the various forms of Indian music and not be a "rapper" at the same time?

Your agreement with the previous comment also seems to reflect your ignorance of the rap artform. As with singing, rapping is an artform that requires years of practise and dedication to master. There's a significant difference between being able to do something and doing it very well. Clearly, Anik couldn't rap very well and thus was either delusional or misinformed into thinking that he had the vocal prowess to perform this feat to a high standard. He needs to book an appointment with the career adviser very soon!
