Anuradha SenGupta: Is it still in trouble?
Subhash Chandra: No.
Anuradha SenGupta: How proud are you of the fact that it is so close to becoming number one?
Subhash Chandra: It is already number one. I hope it continues for a foreseeable future. And I think it will as long as out people don't think it's permanent.
Anuradha SenGupta: People are not able to handle success according to you. Isn't it?
Subhash Chandra: There is learning in failure. People don't know how to handle failure and success.
Anuradha SenGupta: What would you credit the fact when you say Zee TV is number one today?
Subhash Chandra: I think the people handling the programming fear without fear psychosis, any worries. And they have been able to do it the way people want seemingly. Though it's not my type of programming. I think Indian society is what we show in the soaps and serials on Zee TV and any other channel. I don't the women are so scheming as we show them.
Anuradha SenGupta: You know better than anybody else the kind of general entertainment channels that are going to launch. And the hunting ground for these channels have already been, if not, then will be yours. How are you coping with this constant change of creative people?
Subhash Chandra: In a Press conference when I see 50 cameras, there was nothing. The single private sector bulletin was the Zee TV bulletin. Today there are so many. There are so many artists who have come up. So in the creative field also a turn over of people would help the industry.
Anuradha SenGupta: But were you personally surprised or upset when Gajendra Singh, the gentleman who did some of your flagship shows, left?
Subhash Chandra: No. We asked him to leave. The reason is personal. But because I want him to be successful, I want him to get jobs, we never told anyone that he has been asked to leave.
