Have you noticed he magic effect of the song when the stage is so well set, and the singers are dressed in appropriate colourful costumes. It is just like watching live. The musicians and the camera crew all play an important. But the amount of effort put in is usually not know to the audience like us. HR did explain about it before of the efforts and sacrifice. Because Sumedha is so young and slim, she will look far prettier than even the original actress of the movie, which I saw on youtube ( maybe I am biased because I support her).

And if I remember correctly, the original actress in this song wa Kareena Kapoor. And I don't think anyone can say Sumedha is more appealing than Kareena...😕 Kareeeeeenaaaa ..

Boss Kareena is one of the girls who have captivated millions of hearts in India....

8.5/10 She did lose sur thrice as VS correctly pointed. Strangly v. few pple in forum noticed it..

Sorry if I got carried away. But in youth beauty multiplies for a young girl will mostly all look very pretty when they dress up. But must thank the composer for coming up with such good numbers again and again.

She did not make a world record, I agree. I simply enjoyed Sumedha's version better than the original. And, I know Alka's reputation, thank you. I am not a big fan. Alka Yagnik is established, yes, and also very overrated in my opinion. I find her voice whiny. It grates.

As far as, "No way it was better than Alka" : different folks, different strokes.

I never understand why it becomes necessary to degrade someone for praising one's favourite

There is a difference between degrading someone and trying to have a discussion about opinions of taste.

Much of the discussion in this forum is subjective, and if all we ever did on here was praise our favorite contestants by simply saying they "sang well" without describing our reactions to their performances in some detail, well, I would find that a very boring discussion.

I am not degrading Alka. She is an established singer. She has her fanbase. (I am not part of that fanbase, I find her overrated. That is an opinion of taste.)

The only reason I brought in how whiny I find Alka's singing is to elaborate on the difference I found between Sumedha's version and Alka's. The quality in Alka's singing that I find whiny - I freely admit that her fans probably find that very same quality appealing and would describe it differently. Again, opinion of taste.

Take HR for another example. He is a singer/MD/actor/yarda yarda that I also find overrated.

He too is "established" in the music industry. Yet, I find whenever a newcomer on srgmp sings one of HR's songs, they often sound better than HR's nasal style. There are fans who enjoy HR's singing and do not find it nasal or think that nasal singing is appealing. Once again, this is all subjective territory, it is a matter of taste.

I do not like Alka Yagnick. She is a great singer, but I do not simply like her voice it is too shrill - lacks sweetness. Besides she is a very mean person and anyone who has watched her in little champs as a judge knows what I mean.

Coming back to Sumedha, she sounded better to me than Alka in bole churiya. And, she looked totally - out of the world , a dream girl.
