i have to say a couple of things here. In my view this article is completely biased. All the quotes are from indian singers or music directors. When the article mentions that pakistani artists come to india because pakistan doesn't have a music industry? what was he thinking when he wrote that?? Do they even have an idea, how many concerts, how many artists, albums there are in pakistan?
and honestly the new trend in music in pakistan is that no one in pakistan especially the younger generation even listens to this bollywood music. I recently visited pakistan and i felt it..pakistani music is big there. pakistan cd's are more expensive than indian cds. artists are big there. because of this music, countless music pakistani channels are up and running nowadays. I dont know what the article is talking about!

Indian albums are cheap because they are pirated. that means even though our music is admired and popular there, we r not gaining any profit from that. So whenever Indians are providing such platform they should think how it's impact will be on the Indian industry. The singers are very good and talented no doubt about it; but even we havre plenty pf talents in India itself. We should think of our own people first. Just being big hearted does not help.

First to correct you. Not all albums are pirated. Pirated albums are not sold everywhere. even if you go buy the original ones (e.g YASH RAJ stamp on it, original cover), it will still be cheaper than an atif aslam's album. My whole point was that it is unfair to say that pakistan does not have a music industry and no one cares for pakistani artists there. I think artists are still going to be popular if they were not given indian platform. if atif aslam was not heard in indian before he sang for a hindi movie, did not mean he was not popular. it was just that indian people were not open to other kind of music. Atif and all the other artists were popular enough in their own countries..its the indian music director who call them and ask them to sing for them 😊

im suprised this topic hasnt been closed yet. seems like a totally biased one to me.

the thing is that in india not everybody speaks hindi fluently especially in places like gujurat. in pakistan, urdu is the official language. in every province people speak urdu fluently. this is why people in pakistan are better writers and poets and can use excellent lyrics in their songs. they have a solid grasp on a sophisticated language.

since urdu and hindi are almost identical, indians want to bring artists from pakistan to use good songs in their movies. and india has much to offer these artists. pakistan on the other hand doesnt have much to offer indian artists. and that is why there is no exchange.

I agree to one thing. This article is a biased one. Just that one part by Abhijit is a proof enough. If he had to report to police same is followed here too. When Mehndi Hassan Ji came to IIT Kharagpur, we had to make sure to provide the Passport Xerox to the police station with his itinery details.

And then for the first time we came to know about this rule. That anyone visiting from Pakistan has to keep the police reported about their where abouts when in India. Whatever be the reason but fact is its the same here and there too.

donto know about police rules, but being a viewer of pak tv from my home town in J&K. One think I can say for sure is that TV does promote Pak singers only.

Nothing wrong, every country should promote their singers, but in Indian TV we see both. We see Pak singers gieven same importance and preference for good music. i am myself bit fan of Gulam saab and Khan saab. No one can stand next to them, such talent. But India does promote Talent regardless to boundary.
For police report, could be same for both countries. I will not comment since I have no clue.
