Listen to all the contestants.... Give all the points at the end, and give the points secretly without getting influenced by any contestant or fellow judge!

Degree of difficulty is again a personal perspective, but then there are some commonly agreed things (that we were discussing elsewhere) that makes a song difficult for all.. Probably, that can be a guiding criteria for considering a song as difficult 😊

For example, if a contestant chose an easy song and sang well, s(h)e should deserve anywhere from 7-9. This show is about challenging contestants to sing the best they can...good performances in moderately easy songs shouldn't be their number one goal.

Very well said 👏 👏 👏

Your point is extremely valid Amit, and so is Gopalbhai's.

Just make them sing the same song... takes away ALL the FUN altogether, but no other way to judge and compare singing IMHO.. 😊

This is the most perfect logic for holding a competition but practically not possible to implement. Imagine a scenario where 12 contestants sing the same song. Viewers will switch off their sets, judges will fall asleep.

I will envisage a system where it will be compulsory for the contestants to sing all the types of songs and they will rated by each mentors in sealed envelope after each genres competition , audience votes results for each round also enclosed in a sealed envelope. No one will be out till the whole competition is over and final winner and runner up declared on the basis of 50 : 50 weightage given to the cumulative rating : public votes and the one who scores highest will be declared the winner. No heart breaks , no drama required and everybody will have the privilege of listening to their favorite singers throughout the competition.

Gopalbhai, very nice idea there... I would also add HIDING the contestant's last name and place of origin / residency to make it more impartial from the public voting perspective.
BTW, you took the "one song" idea more seriously, than it was intended.. The show ratings will tank so bad, that there will be no voters left 😆😆 if that is followed! I reckon that.. 😳

Wow some great ideas given.. Just few days back i was thinking of an idea where we will have different rounds and see which contestant has improved drastically.. Because one can always be god gifted but the other has to work hard.. The one who shows improvement in terms of singing and comes to the level of the best singer in the competition should also be credited equally.. Because he has the capability to grasp things and learn better..

Here's the catch 22 - these 'gurus' are not judges. You can't be a judge if you have vested interest in other candidates who are part of the competition. The fact of the matter is judging should be totally non-biased and only the public should be allowed to vote. It also shows the great democracy India has maintained for 60 years. Once they take away 100% public voting and allow part of the decision by these gurus, it will take away the interest of the public and that would lead to low ratings and ultimately sayonara. The scores of the 'gurus' are just an opinion and not a barometer for the public to base their own judgment.

Simple song sung perfectly may get 9/10 and difficult song sung perfectly may get 10/10....or any song sung perfectly should get 10/10 as it is difficult to classify which is simple and which is difficult song. What are your views?

I don't think any of the singers deserve a 10/10. I have yet to hear a
perfectly rendered song and once someone gets 10/10 it cheapens a better
singer as they cannot get any more than that. Also it goes against our
values and traditions that all singers are students and there is always room
to improve. These mentors have lost their minds. If Mauli can get a 10/10
for any performance, remind me to record myself in shower next time and
send it in to ZEE!

But then we will have the Rajeev/Diwaker syndrome where better singers
are being displaced. Rarely will you get a talented singer who is just
really good without trying. The question is trying before the contest and
during the contest. I think that there can be an award from the mentors
for most improved and for best singer regardless of the public vote (like
they did in Lil Champs)

I don't mean to sound insensitive but this is not the Special Olympics of
Singing as far as I know. The public is supposed to want to buy the
records of good singers.
