ASVOI has great contestants!! 👏 Was switching today n watching bits of ASVOI, for the first time 😃 ....I guess it isn't doing as well as SaReGaMaPa coz of the judges drama, which tends to go overboard at times..just wat i felt.. 😳

YAYY!!! SaReGaMaPas rocking at the top!!! cant help but feel gud! 😳

I love to watch both the show. Quality or standard is good. II3 does not worth to watch.

In comparison the old-established-brand SRGMP C2007 this year could easily have fallen flat on its feet... with a brand new 19 year old host, new producer, director, etc...

Also... its harder for old, established brands to keep people's interest and stay on top... people always flock to see new and exciting things... Indian Idol is an example of that... In its first year, its rating was phenomenal, always in the top 10... Its ratings have been dropping ever since !!! Fame Gurukul is another example of a new brand that had phenomenal ratings...

So I think credit should be given to SRGMP for being able to keep up their ratings inspite of significant setabacks and head-to-head competition !!! 👏 👏 👏

Thanks for the article Lalit

actually even a top guy starting in a different firm has teething problems. the set-up, the camaderie, the politics are all new. cant bank on years of social networking within the firm to get things done. it's like learning the ropes all over again. which is why a lot of top-ranked analysts/ investment bankers/ traders fail when they jump ship. true in other fields as well.

then in terms of brand consciousness, sgmp was the name ingrained in people's consciousness. like coke. even if the quality were to go down, folks will continue buying it for a while. it's the name they learned to trust and love. it's called milking the brand value. short-term milking at the expense of long-run investment in a quality show.

add to that the investment and dramabaazi associated with overseas auditions and contestants. plus the fact that sgmp has retained HR and ID, two of the more controversial and eye-ball grabbing characters. given HR's massive popularity, one would have normally expected even better results for zee, no?😉

hope that answers your point😉 and oh, yes, lemme give the obligatory credit to zee sgmp now just in case.😉👏😆

I agree completely with CB!
lol @ the obligatory credit- that's wicked.. 😆

I like to add that Zee is a more popular and more-subscribed network, isn't it? - atleast oversees it is. Even viewers like me who like performance in other shows far more than srgmp watch srgmp:)
it's the brand name and drama component that SVOI lacks thus far.

Lbntl, noticed what other shows make it to the list? 😉.. hmm

hi i would agree with chatbuster
srgmp could have dominated this year totally if they had better singers
because himesh and ismail are the reason half the population watched C05

Hi Lalit,

I do agree, that SRGMP could have done better if they had better singers. But this is a transition year for them as well, and that's exactly my point… They lost Gajendra Singh who had a real talent in spotting new talent. They also lost the "musical recruiters" who worked with Gajendra Singh. So, that loss will be felt, and you can see that some of the singers are not up to par. But they have tried to balance that by bringing in international contestants, new mentors like Vishal Shekar and a young, new host.

Frankly, at the beginning of the season I had no expectations from SRGMP… so I'm very happy with the results so far.

more than the quality of singers i guess having so many singign shows on tv is causing the problem
for all its problems zee tv has manged well with srgmp thanks to the teenybopper audience that adi is getting
unlike the mess they made with antakshari

Actually, STAR Plus is the most popular network in India, with the top TRP ratings. Zee only comes in second, and the TRP gap between the two networks is quite large. So SVOI has an advantage there.

Zee is watched more overseas because most people have dish... but the overseas audience does not reflect in the TRP ratings.
