Please understand that I am not trying to promote any regional bias. I am also aware that southies are not comfortable that much with Hindi programs (It really felt bad when shows like ASVOI, ATGC did not even auditioned in south. We could have got a number of talented singers from there). But what surprises me this year is the shear volume of easties participating in these shows(mostly Bengalis If I am not wrong. beacuse being myself a Bong I can easily recognise a bengali surname).

No points to prove here but it just felt good that east is continuing to contribute so much in the Indian culture even today.

SRGMP has Rimi Dhar, Joy Chakrobarty, Amrita Chatterjee, Nirupma Dey, Shreshta Banerjee, Tushar Sinha, Koyal Chaterjee, Saaberi Bhattacharya, Sayan Chaudhary, Sumana Ganguly, Binoy Mohanty [11 out of 32, >34%]

ASVOI has Prantik Sur, Tanushree Datta, Ravi Shukla, Shayantani, Rohit Sonal, Sanchari, Sushim Dey, Prantika Mukherjee, Rahul Mukherjee, Arindum, Saptaparna [11 out of 33, > 33%]

II3 has Emon, Chang , Amit, Prashant, Puja, Smita, Deepali, Jolly [ whopping 8 out of 13, > 61%]

Very good job. May the best talent wins.👏

i agree with you even my parents have realised that not many people from the south vote/participate. also, most of the people from the east are bengali.

some of the names in your list are not bengali, but from the east definitely. So 👏 👏 Bengalis do have significant presence in the music industry. I AM NOT A BENGALI, but from Hindi heartland.

It's not surprising as traditionally Bengalis along with Maharashtrans and
Punjabis have made a significant contribution to Hindi film music. Of course
culturally South Indians generally very musical and the rest of India is very
fortunate when we get a taste of that as well (like Cheeni Kum).

My relatives in Kolkata telll me that with Debojit, Ujjaini and Sanchita
winning the last three SRGMP (a Bong sweep) runs not to mention the
success of Shreya from SRGM - - people are excited about the future of
Bengalis in music. The future of Bengai music itself ?? Well that is another
topic!

I can make a point here. With Debojit's run in C2005, Saregamapa really achhieved great success in the north-eastern states. That is the reason that all talent shows are getting lots of participants from Assam, Tripura and Meghalayas. If anyone looks carfully, much of the easties came from those regions.

Another point would be, having residence near Darjeeling, I always knew amazing singing talent of the Nepalese. Most of them are very good singers. Hopefully Prashant's association with II3 will bring similar craze from the hills.
