I couldnt get an apt title for the points that I want to put forth - So, I have given it a general title..

Few points that I want to mention regarding the Judgment in reality shows:

Point 1 - On what basis is the judgment in reality shows done?? Is it based on the performance on the day's episode or the over all performance?? Was the judgment based on Mauli based on her first performance main idhar chali, main udhar chali or the Maiyya maiyya?? Agreed that one person maynot be able to perform well one day but overall a good singer.. But still that day some other contestant might have performed well.. So, is it right to do the judgment based on the over all performance rather than the performance on that particular day??

Point 2 - Does looks, performance and style really matters?? We have read articles about make over for the contestants where the contestants were not willing for the make over.. So, does this make over really needed??

Point 3 - We have always had controversy on versatility of the singer.. On what basis should the judgment of the contestants should be given?? If a singer is best in one genre of songs and is not comfortable with other genres, should the contestants be given given based on the judgment of genre of song he is comfortable with or with what performance has been given by the contestant in other genre of songs.. I feel a contestant should be judged based on all the genre songs he/she sings.. It is necessary that a contestant is tested in all the type of songs.. Like one we used to have - Classical, Folk, Hip Hop, Sufi, Romantic etc..

Please add your own points about the judgment in reality shows.. What you think of it and what you feel on how the Judgment should be.. Are the reality shows following the right format??

Very good points,Anu and an apt title.
I fully agree with what Sareg said in reply to your popints. If we can pinpoint it let us revisit original Saregama of Sonu's era.All genres of songs were given and contestants tested on that basis.Folk,bhajans,semi-classicals,cord rounds-all really tested the calibre of singers and that is how we got the likes of Shreya,V,Parthiv and many others.Even in Shaan's earlier phase we had almost the same tests and we got Ronkini, Abhijeet Ghoshal, our own Nihira and others.
In short, today it has become more commercial and TRP based. The infighting of judges also seems to be scriopted for TRPs.In short TRP is the TR(A)P

Good topic Anu 👏

General versus speciality..We can deal with this conflict by

When you have final 10 contestants, than each be tested for

classical/semiclassical
gazals
qwaalis
sufi
pop
soft melodies and so on

Than the winner should be who got the maximum in all the genres..

Also they should find out who excelled in each genre..

best gazal singer,

best sufi singer

best pop singer
and so on..

Best gazal singer and other best's in each genre will be recognized and will get roti too..

Point 1 -
I think every performance every day counts. If one gives sub par performance in comparison to other singers, they get eliminated. This ensures giving one's best shot every time (unless they r favored for wrong reasons 😉)

Point 2 -
In reality shows selecting candidates who can sing, a lot rides on their presentation. Mother Nature does NOT discriminate when it comes to distribution of melody- there are great, good, ordinary and sub par looking candidates with gifted musical ability. Such entertainment however are stage for providing wholesome entertainment and hence overall performance matters. SINGING and VOICE should at no cost be comprised, but personality and delivery style matters in such shows and new-age artist-lifestyle 😊

Point 3 -
I loved what amit said.. hence quoted him.

This is situational or rather subjective question.....

Lets take two examples:

1. A person blows the stage with the very first performance and then in future cant do well in other themes.... Then the person is one genre singer and is liable to be voted out.... however it does nt mean the person is not a good singer.... The person can excel in genre they are comfortable and get break in that genre

2. A person is singing great... In last 5 episodes he has sung best or better than many others for 5 different themes..... but in current episode he cd nt do well unfortunately he had a bad day because of some family crisis.... I dont think the person should be voted out.... based on the particular day's performance, it would be great injustice to a good singer....

I agree that for winning the competition, a singer shall be tested for all kinds of songs and that will be done once the contestants go to final rounds and they have to go with themes....

this stupid genre concept is introduced by Himesh..cos he can only sing one type of song...

Ashaji was right...If you are a singer you can sing all type of songs...

In current trend who is singing more songs? 'Alka Yagnik...cos she is versatile singer and can sing any song (Kisi bhi song me jann dal deti hai)..same as Shreya Ghosal...NOw what is the genre of these singers?

If its singing compition then you should sing all type of song. In the last episode, it was wrong selection of song by Mauli and not "stupid genre" issue. Himesh needs to grow up and He needs to learn more about singing...

Very nice topi c

1. Himesh and the reputed judges were totally wrong by giving the judgement on the basis of mayya mayya, Why they are doing injustice with other contestants by keeping Mauli in, its a shameful part for a reputed programme like SRGMP. 🤢

I was also singing in my childhood: lakdi ki kathi, khathi pe ghoda very well, so now I am thinking I should also have participated in SRGMp, and every time , if I sing bad , I can say , listen to my " lakdi ki kathi" 😆😆
