Hello friends,
It is time again to choose the songs for the coming week's
(May 30th) Retro Caf show. Yet again we have a novel theme this time.It is..
Now who are these character artists????
Well, they are those, who provide the able back up support to the main leads in a given film to help weave a plot and carry the story forward. Even though they did not have the meatiest of the roles in a hero-dominated Bollywood, yet there are those talented few who held their own fort in many films and left their very conspicuous footprints back !!!
Think of a suffering Ma - and immediately the name of Nirupa Roy pops into mind. Think of a cabaret dancer, won't you remember Helen and her seductives dance numbers? Think of daddu, and Om Prakash's face comes right in the front.š Think of comedians ā immediately the faces of Mehmood, Paintal, Johny Walker, Keshto Mukherjee, Deven Verma, Utpal Dutt, Asrani, Kader Khan, Johnny lever, Satish Shah,Paresh Paral and so many more come to mind. Each of these actors have excelled in different roles, in different movies and yet they have managed to create their individual niches in bollywood, some of their screen roles have left a lasting impression on our minds.
They also have very notable songs to their credit. For example -Helen's- "Piya tu", Mehmood's- "Ek chatur Naar", Johny Walkers "Yeh Hain Bombay Meri Jaan or Sar jo tera chakraye" are some of the songs that immediately comes to mind.
This week we will play some of these popular numbers that was picturised on these noted character artists (male/female). All you have to do is, take a walk down the golden melody lane, and reminisce those nostalgic scenes, recollect those popular songs and post your choices here. With the choice you all can even add few lines on the song be it picturisation or the situation. From this week we also make this topic not just a topic for posting the songs but also a discussion topic. So all of you who want to share something on the subject can also do so here.
Please note that in Retro Caf shows, we try our best to bring you the golden melodies as much as possible. So please limit your choices until the 1980's only. Please do not post requests of newer films.
The last date for posting your choice is 27th May, 8 PM IST.
Regards.
