I have heard the same stories from many people. Especially , I have family in the movie industry who said that these singers ruled the industry with an iron fist.

Chahe jitne affwaein uda lo yaar, sach yeh hai ki Mangeshkar behnon ke takkar ki aaj tak koi female gayak nahin hai...they are the epitome of perfection, in all aspects of singing, sur, lay, bhaav and alankar. Just leave them alone. Log jalte hain, isliye bolte hain ki unse better singers they. Agar they to tike kyon nahin? Khud unke gaane suno, Mangeshiyon se compare karo, pata chalega.

One singer from that era that is comparable to asha tai and lataji is/was Noor Jahan👏
