EARLY ELIMINATION ROUNDS AND JUDGES

Anyone knows how the candidates will be eliminated in early rounds before the public voting starts? Will it be like C2005 were they had judges like Shiv-ji, Hari-ji, Pt. Jasraj, Alka who selected the candidates for the next rounds?

If it is like C2005, then I am sure Zee has already selected judges.. but I would still like to know from members whom would they like to see as judges. the modern era music directors/singers or the golden era ones or the combination.

I think that with the way the show has changed since the public voting rounds of C2005 (focus on performace/fast numbers, eyes of TRPs, disapperance of melody), some of the golden era musicians may not want to grace the seats of judges. What do you feel?

Traditionally Zee called the music directors/singers of the past era and honored them by bringing them infront of today's generation. We saw many stalwarts like Anil Bishwas, Naushad, OP Nayyar, Khayyam and many other. But Zee forgot some names. I would like to see some of those MDs/Singers on Judges chairs. Some names being --

Ravi: Gave hit music to so many movies -- Gumrah, Waqt, Hamraaz, Neel Kamal.. so many hit songs.. but never saw him on SRGPM.

Usha Khanna: There is no dearth of women singers in Bollywood but talk about women MD and there is ONLY one. Started with a big bang, giving super duper hit music to Dil Deke Dekho when she was just 17! Gave breaks to many new singers. She needs to be honored.

Ravindra Jain: Not sure if he ever came on SRGMP. The man who made Yesudas a household name with Chitchor. When golden era singers were still going strong, he gave hit music with the team of all new singers like Yesudas, Hemalata, Jaspal Singh.

Manna Dey: What should I say about him? Don't recall seeing him on SRGMP.

Mahendra Kapoor: He may not have earned the same place in peoples heart as the other singers of his era but he gave us such superhit songs in Gumrah, Hamraaz, Neel Kamal. I would like to see him honored.

Whom would you like to see?

The names that you have brought up really are legends in their fields, but not sure if getting them to SRGMP adds to their honour 😕 - as you correctly pointed out, lot of them may not want to be a part of the show anymore - since the focus from singing has shifted quite a bit in these shows... With the current format, I think SRGMP is more comfortable getting the hip-hop MDs like Mithoon, or even actors like Priyanka Chopra and Akshay Kapoor 😕 , cricketers like Siddhu (all of whom are not related to music at all ) to the show and add to the glamor quotient.. So, lower we set our expectations, the lesser we will be hurt!

I think the judging the early rounds is an honor and won't lower anyone's respect. The judges in C2005 would be proud of the 10 they sent into the Agnipariksha rounds. Yes, when public voting gets underway, judges matter little, and that's when they call the 'hip' crowd, just as an added attraction.

Agree that the earlier rounds of SRGMP had better judges than the later rounds... but we also had the likes of 'sur-o-meter' Daler Paaji in the earlier rounds, right? 😛

Out of the judges suggested by Salilji, I would go with Manna De, Usha Khanna and Ravi. In addition, I would like to see:
1)Ustad Rashid Khan
2)Pt Ajay Chakraborti
3)Yesudas
4)Shubha Mudgal
5)Ranu Mukherjee (Hemant Kumar's daughter. Where is she nowadays?)
6)Anushka Shankar
7)Rajesh Roshan
8)Amit Kumar (Kishore Kumar's son)

Hopefully we can see many more musical personalities on Zee as Judges..Any of the Judges will do for me..I am sure Zee must be giving all of them some standard guidelines notwithstanding their status in the industry ...Watching Saregama, we have seen personalities like OP nayar, Naushad, Ghulam Ali, and what not..looking forward to see many more..

The first judges are going to be Asha Bhonsle and Ghulam Ali.. So, im looking forward for some great stalwarts as judges for the initial rounds.. We have had some great judges during C2005 hoping to get the same 😊
