Had he changed his pitch/scale, I have a feeling it would have sounded smoother....Nope...He rendered the song very well...in fact his voice modulation was wonderful....Must have been that upload which you heard!!😕..
As for the lack of female contestants... someone did bring up a good point. Pakistani culture is still relatively "restrained" (the right word isn't coming to my mind right now...at the risk of being slammed by my Pakistani friends and no offence intended....the word is "PAROCHIAL"). Perhaps exposure to such opportunities is only available to the financially well-off, which can pose several limitations. I'm still left at "najaane kyun..." though
US singer: Mauli... oh golly! I'm in quite the minority when I say that I quite frankly don't see what everyone is fida over! 😕 She's just about average; she has decent control over sur, but voice modulation, pitch control and appropriately placing the harkates are weak. Not to mention she's puting an inordinate amount of effort to sing this one song... (granted this is a rather complicated composition). She seems most comfortable doing the arabic portions which are soft and syllables strung together at a fast-pace.
I disagree and agree. Disagree at your analysis of her rendition of the Maiyya Maiyya song. I thought her rendition of this song was outstanding. Her voice truly filled the hall and my heart like onone else's. Agree that she has to prove herself beyond the items songs. As an example I am pretty sure that she will rock the Beedi Jalai Le song. I am not sure if she can do justice to say as an example any of the melodious Shreya Ghoshal songs..😛
😳 I'm reading Suny's thread and it looks like I'm thinking the complete opposite of everyone else on the forum 😕 I think she gave the song a fair attempt, considering its complexity. However, I was not moved or all that impressed. I actually found her straining to sing Mayya Mayya with justice. Mera impression bilkul ulta tha 😆..Dosh tumhara nahi...tumhare khajoori kaan ka hai...ya phir us upload ka....😆😆😆 Softer numbers might just work out better for her.. just pay attention to the arabic portions where she drops her pitch...it's far smoother than the higher "Mayya mayya" bit.
London singer: Surprise, surprise! Himesh's choice was from England. To be fair, Yogesh (right?) did a fair job of the song and I'm rather glad he didn't try to emulate HR. While his singing was fine, there was nothing extraordinary about it. I'll reserve my comments on HR coming up and singing the song again 😕 😉 😆...That guy from London has a long way to go and if he has to go a long way then he better stop singing HR songs without nasal touch..😆
😆 No comments 😉 I refuse to walk into that particular battlefield ever again 🤣
Eklavya gharana: I honestly thought some of the people in this gharana (esp the first two, were far better than some of the singers in the "real" gharanas 😕 Who knows what role Eklavya plays in all of this...We will find out next week.😃
Hope so 😊
I think the strongest singer so far has been Wassi. Rest have a long way to go in terms of the technical aspects of singing. Not a single one is comparable to Hema yet ... 😔 I miss him! 😳...My fav thus far is Sikandar and Reecha...Mauly is Fav at present but I have to hear her singing a non-item song before I join her fan-club.😉
Reecha... why am I not remembering her? She was in the first episode...Not hyped as yet but I found promise in her voice...She has ways to go though...before she hits the level of Himani or Nihira.😉
