The Retro Caf Challenge –where music is the name of the game
Hello fellow music and fun lovers,
Music plays a very integral part of all our lives. Our music tastes may be different from one another's but it is this passion for music which attracted us and finally bound us to this place we call our second home - the IF SRGMP Section.
As we all know, music is endless and has no boundary – there is so much to delve into, so much to learn and appreciate yet we will never be able to get to the end of it. We have a goldmine of music from our own bollywood. For the last almost 10 months now India -Forums is paying its tribute to through the Retro Caf special shows to these musical legends who have dedicated their lives to create songs for every moods and moments to appease our soul. We have about 44 Retro Caf special that has already been featured on singers, actors, lyricists, MD's, seasons, occasions like Independence day or Valentine day .These episodes already aired have touched upon almost the whole musical era - right from the golden days of yesteryears to right up to the recent ones. Retro shows along with playing our favourite songs have also given us some more tidbits on these featured legends and the song creations. We have this whole goldmine waiting for us right here at India-Forums.
Hold on hold on …
I am not giving a lecture on music here. That was just a background on the Retro show. I am here to announce a challenge or a dare game based on the Retro shows –something that you haven't played before and something that will include all members of India-Forums right from the newbie to up to the Admins. It will involve the chatty thread lovers as well as the music lovers. It will be so challenging that you just can't keep away. It will keep us all on our foot and add a whole new meaning to the definition of fun, frolic and plenty of masti- something that we all love the most.
So here is how the game will be :
There will be 5 major components in the game. They are:
- The Retro Chicken – the member who sits on the hot seat The Retro Kasai – the tormentors who asks questions The Retro Manager - who manages the game The Retro third eye - The SRGMP Dev Team members when moderating
- The audience - all the other members
The structure of the game:
- The Retro Third eye will first select two members to become - the Retro Chicken and the Retro Manager.
- The Retro Kasais will now formulate 3 tricky questions in each set based on the information found in the retro episodes and also from the retro threads in our section… And post it for the Retro Chicken in the thread.
- The Chicken will now post the replies to these questions.
- The Retro Manager will review and decide if the replies are correct. If yes, then fine. If not then, chicken gets three more questions from the manager.
- This procedure will go on for three days. Then the Manager will NAME a member of his or her choice to take charge for the next round and also PM the concerned member to take up the job.
- Third eye will only come in for moderating only if there is a dispute or something that the current Retro Manager is incapable of handling. Otherwise the whole show will be managed by the selected Manager. The third eye will also come in if one of the announced members fails to show up and take charge. At all other times the third eye members will be treated in this game as regular members
Who all can participate
- Anyone who falls in the age group of 13 to 85 years Is a member of India Forums (could be any section) From a newbie to right up to the Admin
- Anyone whether a chatty thread lover or a musical thread lover or a challenge lover or a masti lover.
What happens if a chosen chicken does not take up the task ?
In this case the Manager gets in touch with the Third Eye and informs him/her. The Third Eye rep then speaks to the concerned member to find out the reasons for the default .If it is genuine he/she selects a replacement for the missing person and the game continues.
A list of the defaulters is made and all those who fail to take up the task will be punished in a very different way.😉😃 They will be made the MOTW as soon as the person is able to come out of the reason of crisis and in this case, the defaulter cannot say " NO" to sit on the MOTW seat. Or the member may also be asked to write a summary on any topic choosen by the Third eye from the topics posted that week.😉
What type of questions can the Retro Kasai ask?
Any question related to the featured Retro special episode, whether it is the song name, the song lyric, or the little tidbits or any trick questions.
Example of questions :
Let's take the Valentine day special episode. Questions could be like:
- Who is the MD for the song "dil deewana bin sajna ke mane na" Who was the song "Tere mere milan ki yeh raina featured on? Who is the music director? After which song was "tere bin mein yu kaise jiya, tere bin" played? Which song followed it? "Jiya dhadak dhadak jaaye "was played. Can you get us the lyrics of that song (here google uncle can be used) What were the songs that were played in the valentine special? Which MD's songs featured in the Valentine special? Which one was the first song played and which one was the last song played?
- Who hosted the show?
…and such type of questions or anything creative or tricky, but related to the retro episodes or the retro threads only. Yes when you post a question from some Retro episode DO MENTION THE RETRO EPISODE FROM WHICH YOU ARE POSTING THE QUESTION. And Third Eye will make sure to provide the MP3 link to that episode else the questions will be put on hold.
What is the role of the audience?
The audience plays a very important role here. The reason being any moment a member of the audience can be selected in any of the two roles of a Chicken or Kasai. So they need to be alert and its best all listen to the featured Retros.
The audience will cheer the Chicken, and the kasai but is requested not to get into any unrelated discussions. The members should actively participate on a song, or the actor or the situation for which the song was picturised, but all discussions will be related to the replies of the chicken.
Spamming shall not be entertained.
We request all members to take interest and not shy away.
Well this is the final game plan and now lets pay tribute to Retro Caf efforts in our own unique way…
Who said a game cannot be a serious business or a business cannot be as simple as a game…it is the challenge that counts and it is this challenge that we will all take up…
So…are we ready to roll the ball?

The RETRO CHICKEN gets a prize too for sitting on this seat and facing all the kasai's. They get the chance to dedicate one song to anyone in that weeks retro Episode. Thats the icing on cake for these choosen chickens 😊
