I always like to go back in time and listen to those good singers that participated in SRGMP in Sonu Nigam's days.... The songs they used to select were some of the best in the goden era.
Here is a link to some good songs by Archana Udupa -- one of the winners in those days.
I recommend -- jarasi aahat, naino me badara chhaye, manmohana bade zhute and the kannada bhakti geet. I do not understand a bit of kannada but I enjoyed the bhakti geet very much. There is really no language barrier to good music.
