Never heard the names of some of these oldies from before 1952, though I heard my mother and father speaking of the oldies like Achute Khaniya, Sindoor, Do Bhai etc, but I think anything before 1939 was before their time.

Satyajit Ray's first color film, Kanchenjunga, released.

Indian Film Culture, the journal of the Federation of Film Societies of India is launched in Calcutta.

Bengali film Dada Thakur bagged the national award for the best film.

Sunil dutt and wahida rehman in mujhae jeenae do

India Film Industry celebrated its Golden Jubilee.

First Indian Merchant Ivory film, The House Holder, released.

Indian Motion Pictures Export Corporation established.

IMPA celebrated its silver jubilee.

First Kasmiri film Naizraat, released.

Death of film-maker Mehboob on 27th May, singer-actress Shanta Apte on 25th February and actor-director Guru Dutt on 10th October.
