Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy salute R.D. Burman

IndiaFM |

IFFI is the most happening thing in Goa, currently. And the Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy concert that eventuated on Tuesday evening in Goa was the most happening thing about IFFI till now. Music and melody dissolved in the air as the musician trio came forward to pay tribute to the Big Boss of the Indian music industry – the great R.D.Burman in the musical concert 'Salaam Boss' (Salute to the Boss)

While Shankar took charge of the mike, Ehsaan and Loy took up the guitar and the keyboard respectively along with their musical troupe and some prominent singers from the music industry. Complimenting the city of Goa, the concert started with Pancham da's popular song 'Dekha Na Hai Re' from Bombay to Goa. Alka Yagnik lend her voice to the Burman trademark 'Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko' with Mahalaxmi Iyer soon following up with 'Piya Tu' without which any Pancham tribute would be incomplete. Kavita Krishnamurty who happens to be one of the few singers today who actually was fortunate enough to work with R.D.Burman simply thanked the maestro for blessing her with 'Dil Ne Kaha Chup Ke Se' from 1942 A Love Story.

From the male lot, Shaan and Kailash Kher came ahead with some chartbusting compositions of the musician. But the highlight of the show was the jugalbandi between Shankar Mahadevan and the one-and-only Sudesh Bhosle who became the voice of R.D.Burman for the evening.

Incidentally the day also happened to be the 100th birth anniversary of the late S.D.Burman – father of R.D.Burman, who Mahadevan tagged as the 'Boss of the Boss'. And when it comes to paying a tribute to S.D.Burman who else other than Sudesh Bhosle could do justice in recreating the unique voice of the master! Wherever the great Pancham da is at the moment, he would only be happy to see his tunes still being remembered today and enjoyed with more vigour. emembered today and enjoyed with more vigour.
