Channel says singer refused to have a press meet with other judges
of the talent hunt show saying he was too big to be seen with them
Success seems to have gone to Himesh Reshammiya's head. The
singer was recently thrown out of the talent hunt show Fame X, a
soon-to-be-aired programme on Sony Sab, for allegedly 'acting very
pricey'.
Sony Sab had planned to rope in Himesh, Daler Mehndi and the MTV
team of Nikhil Chinnappa and Cyrus Broacha as judges for the talent
hunt show to be anchored by Sophie Choudhary.
"To begin with we decided to hold a press conference to announce
the show. But each time we got a date fixed Himesh would tell us he
couldn't do it. He demanded preferential treatment and told us that
he would hold a separate press conference," revealed a source in
Sony Sab.
Officials at Sony Sab said that Himesh was getting to be very
difficult to handle. "Since our show is all about youngsters we
though roping in the likes of Himesh, Daler and Ganesh Hegde made
sense as they are seen as youth icons. But we were totally
disappointed by Himesh's attitude," says another source at the
channel.
Other than the drama around the press conference, sources at the
channel say that Himesh also made unreasonable demands. "He kept
insisting that he was far bigger than the rest and thus should be
portrayed differently," says a source.
According to sources at the channel, Himesh was to get Rs 2 crore
for the 84-day show. "Despite the attitude, we were ready to sign
him on and hand over the cheque. But then we realised that his over
all behaviour towards the other judges could land us in deeper
trouble once the show was on air. So we dropped him from the show,"
said another source.
When Mumbai Mirror contacted Vikas Bahl, Sony Sab head, he refused
to comment on the sacking. He, however, said, "We have finalised
Daler Mehndi, Ganesh Hegde and the MTV team of Nikhil Chinnappa and
Cyrus Broacha as our judges."
Despite repeated efforts Himesh Reshammiya was not available for
comment.
