aksar is a very complete album with - Jhalak, soniye, mohabbat ki guzarish, lagi lagi, lootjayenge. Every song on the album extremely good and very very popular. You may not like the album. But, is one album where every single song is awsome and extremely popular. Probably the only album where every song was a blockbuster hit. With fast tracks and soft one's.

woh lamhe- yes only one song.

Gangster- 4 out of 5 songs are direct lifts from other songs. If you like copies you will like this album. I prefer original music to copied music.

i liked only soniye from the aksar album.jhalak and mohobbat ki guzarish arent just my cup of tea.

also when we are talking of soundtracks we aren't talking of inspired or original music.we are just talking about the quality so i think gangster is up there

I would say that this has been a rather sad year for Music.... I am struggling to pick 5 good albums for the year.........

My list will include....

Rang De Basanti
Umrao Jaan

KANK.... (this is also like a forcible addition)

Gangster, though good to hear - was all copied and hence does not make it... Fanaa did not cut a mark... Omkara and Munnabhai had one good song each, and the rest is very average to poor!!

There were lots of good songs and albums in 2006. So, it's very hard to pick only 5. However, here are some songs which I really really love and I can listen to them repeatedly.

1. Umrao Jaan (Behka Diya/ Salaam)
2. Baabul (Bawri Piya)
3. Parineeta (Piyu Bole)/ Laage Raho Munnabhai (Pal Pal Har Pal)
4. Fanaa (Mere Haath Mein/ Dekho Naa)
5. Jaan-E-Mann (Humko Maloom Hain/ Ajnabi Sheher)

exactly! just because the song is copied or lifted from elsewhere does not discredit the fact that it's a good album.

i beg to differ with the inclusion of umrao jaan.for one thing the picturisation of songs is very important.u just cannot throw in mujras wherever u like.some people might call the tracks of UJ as classical but sorry for me they are just boring.also shreya ghoshal could have rendered them better.alka yagnik sounds a bit saccharine sweet.

i cannot understand why people like rdb so much.it has one good song(title track).but the rest arent that good.but i havent heard all of its songs.

and yes the fact that a track is copied doesnt take the beauty of the track away.many well known songs have been copied and will be continued to be copied.

and jayaji please hear the tracks of bas ek pal.tere bin and bas ek pal are simply fabulous.

also dont forget the title song of omkara it was also very good along with beedi.

i think baabul too deserves a mention

this yr belongs to GANGSTER!!!
all of the songs in the film are just too good and totally suit the storyline...
tu hi meri shab, ya ali and bheegi are all brill songs

Others in list include:
fanaah
vivaah
omkara
dil diya hai

baabul, kank, don and umrao jaan are all mega DISAPOINTMENTS!!!

baabul and umrao jaan have such boring songs in them...just nothing in them to make u listen to them again....and kank and don just overrated

Actually Don and UJ are definite disappointments along with Vivaah. Vivaah's songs are just plain boring except "Mujhe Haq Hai" Kank had a couple nice songs and baabul just because of Bawri Piya is worth listening to!
