'L'iL Champs' contestant Diwakar's parents request the judges to stop hurting their child's feelings.
Last four weeks, Abhijeet has voiced aloud his views on Diwakar getting sympathy votes and has also ticked off Bappi Lahiri for his judgements. This week, a furious argument broke out between the two judges of 'L'iL Champs' (Zee TV) over grading Abhrokanti and Diwakar.
Abhijeet was rude with Bappi to the extent that Bappi had to request him to hold his tongue in public and things could be sorted out once the shoot was done. Then, when Sameer was declared safe, Abhijeet said that from the remaining three kids, Abhrokanti and Sanchita should not be out.
When Diwakar sang, Abhijeet found fault with his low scale and blamed Bappi for being biased towards Diwakar and misguiding the public by giving Abhrokanti lower grades.
Shaan, who is usually calm, intervened to say that Bappi's grades cannot be questioned as it is an individual choice. He adds, "When I was young and my voice was changing, I was also told by experts to sing in a lower scale so that when I am older, my vocal chords don't get ruined by singing on a higher scale."
Witnessing all this fracas, Diwakar's parents Sunil and Alka Sharma speak up. Sunil asks Abhijeet "Aap ek bar aankh par patti bandh kar mike pakad ke dekho, main aapko maan jau! I will stop Diwakar from pursuing his love for singing if you are able to do it. He is a kid, encourage him instead of blaming us that we are cashing in on sympathy votes. We wish to withdraw Diwakar from the contest," And Alka says, "Please stop hurting our child's feelings because all these years, we have never let Diwakar know that he is any less than a normal child. Your comments are hurting him and we do not want any sympathy votes."
Abhijeet walked out of the sets and came back after much cajoling on part of director Gajendrra Siingh and Alka Yagnik. Sunil apologised to Abhijeet and said he reacted as Abhijeet had been unfairly targeting Diwakar and it was affecting the child's psyche and confidence.
Abhijeet then remarked that he had heard Diwakar singing 8 years back and was so spellbound that he had presented him with Rs 500. Diwakar makes it to the final three by a very close margin of votes.
