I vote for "maine tere liye".
I have this BIG grouse against Hindi fim-makers who just prefer to make songs suitable for lovers. Why are there none or very few songs meant for other relationships and ordinary situations? Is there a song a girl can sing for her saheli? Is there a fun song that children can sing for their parents? Wish I could bang the heads of all those mindless filmmakers obsessed with only one kind of pyaar! 😡
shld not come as a surprise. they are just doing what they believe will sell. i think it's ultimately just a reflection of our lives- most people spend a lot of their lives thinking of the "opposite" side. this "one kind of pyaar" is seen too in the poetry, even in poetry that is not commercial. we also find it in all those romance novels- remember your favorite Darcy? 😉 our film-makers in this context then simply reflect the romance we hold for the other side.

I am late..... But actually no film song came to my mind when I first saw the requirement..... only song came was title track of Kasamh Se.... a serial on Zee 😕
So you read my Darcy post? 😳 Of course, that one kind of pyaar is very important. But the film-makers are mistaken if they think that only man-woman love songs will sell.
It's just that they don't want to break away from the formula. Remember the song "uthe sab ke kadam dekho rampampam" had become very popular and similarly "yaadon ki baaraat nikli hai aaj dil ke dwaare". Good music and good lyrics make songs sell, not merely the theme of dil-vil, pyaar-vaar.
hmmm, dil-vil, pyaar-vaar se itnee narazgee? J/K😆
i get ur point, but then how often does one get worked up enough to sing thinking of same-gender friends etc.? Forget hindi movies, i dont find too many guys even in real life get up on stage and croon away for their dearest friends. of course, there is some room for other songs, but it's probably only a 2' by 2' room IMO.
as for the "yaadon kee baraat" song, yes it had great lyrics etc, but it probably worked best for it's time. the whole scene would likely look very corny now- some of the acting and song sequences back then feel very over-done to me. haan, ma-beta ma-beti loris and songs still make sense- that's an emotion which was as natural then as it is today.
Kavita, that strikes me, what about your uncle singing "Yaadon ki baraat"? It is quite appropriate, don't you think?
Excellent - even I think its very appropriate 😊
BTW Sahana and Rahul - are we just seeing the tip of the ice-berg in your discussions😉
