Okay here's my poem. Don't take it to face value - I wrote this 4 years ago when I was trying to win a poetry scholarship, and I was simply cosying up the Americans, for whom 9/11 was still relatively fresh in mind.

That Unforgettable Day

I turned to my classmate and asked him today's date
"It's 9/11", he remarked, before realizing the irony
Little did we know then that one enemy's hate
Would turn that very day into an unbelievable tragedy

Our teacher broke the news to the class
My first impression was, she's making a bad joke
But then on the TV, I saw the truth - Alas
In front of eyes, buildings going up in smoke

As I saw the planes launch their attack on the towers
My mind began to feel a painful throbbing sound
I realized it wasn't even in America's powers
To stop those monuments from falling to the ground

I felt a new respect for the emergency members
Who put their lives in utmost danger
By walking into tall statues of burning embers
Just to save the life of a complete stranger

I wished then that there was something I could do
I promised myself every ounce of blood I would drop
I would join the Air Force, the Army, or the Navy crew
Just to help America again come out on top

I still remmber that day..I was in India we were suppose to watch some Movies.. my brother rushed in told us to watch TV... we got direct Telecast Thanks to Fox... such a sad day...😭😭

Old generation still remembers what they were doing when news of Kennedy death broken.. I think our genertion will remember what we were doing on 9/11.. when those planes crashed WTC...

Shady that was a really nice and touching poem you should start to write poems from now on!! 😉
