What I have heard from a local organizer is that when there is a show abroad.. the cost is shared by the organizers of the different venues..you'll notice it is typically the same group performing in quite a few states.. and the cost is also shared by the sponsors as well. And in the name of personal touch.. most times the singers are hosted by local residents.
So the total package a singer - performer walks out with is no less..
Like I said due to tax problems not all details are divulged but if the remuneration for playback or shows are so bad then their lifestyle wouldn't have been as luxurious as they seem to be..
Adi, this is how i believe it works:
on the revenue side, let's take 10 shows across various cities. 10 to 15k attendance each show. $20-30 average ticket price. that makes $200k to $450k take per show. total of $2mm to $4.5mm for the "world" tour.
costs are of renting the venues, TV + radio ads + security + plane fares probably total $2mm. note- these venues have Knicks and other expensive games/ performances and the desi shows have to cough up competitive rates.
so for profit we have: revenue take $2-$4.5mm, cost of $2-3mm. leaves us anywhere from a loss of 1mm to a profit of $2.5mm. the organizers rake in most of that anyway. what does that leave for the clowns they fly in? very little 😊
and again, this is not based on reading material.😊
