Paresh was really honest in making the comments but he made some un-necessary comments too, which shld not ve been made like advising rajeev not to care abt these small things.. It might hurt the contestants

"Nindak niyare rakhiye angan kuti chabaye,

Binu pani binu sabna nirmal kare subhaye"

Paresh ji was right. He is a senior fellow and though his comments might sound hurting yet, they were well meant.

I am waiting for Jatin-Lalit and specially Isamil ji to come on EMET. That would be fun. It was good to see both HR and AS, much mellowed down.

Paresh was a good guest and i don't think his comment to Rajeev about letting small things not stand in his way was uncalled for. Rather it should be taken as constructive advice from someone who's worked his way up as well.

Vinit - another nice picture as always 😊

haan yaar. i suppose it is very helpful to be told "acha nahee laga" ya "sur theek nahee thha". lots one can learn then, right? now if someone can learn from such analytical and insightful statements, wah! makes them quick studies, no?😉

btw, what was the line abt 10 days of hyping that otherwise drew such knowledgeable laughter? since when is 10 days of hyping equivalent to "months and years of training" from a guru?

ab koi einsteinian time use kar rahe hain, toh batao😛

Hello friends.

I've been in and out at work, at home, and packing for the opening of our time capsule my classmates and I made eight years ago.

Anywho, here is a story I want to share with you all.

When Rishi Kapoor was doing his first role as Raju in "Mera Naam Joker," thirteen year old Rishi kept asking his dad, "How am I doing?" and Raj Kapoor said, "Kasar Rahi (could be better)." Even in the powerful scenes when Rishi did a great job in the film, Raj Kapoor told him Kasar Rahi. In the movie Bobby, when Raj Kapoor directed it, twenty year old Rishi was still subject to Raj Kapoor saying "Not good enough... it could be better." Then Rishi asked him, "Why when I try so hard to do well, you keep saying 'kasar rahi' all the time?" Raj Kapoor said, "Because if I don't say kasar rahi, then you will fall." But deep in his heart, Raj Kapoor was very proud.

Kishore Kumar and Amit Kumar (his son) went to R.D. Burman's house to hear Amit's voice for a song RDB was composing. Amit sang very well and RDB liked his voice, but Kishoreda, on the way home, chastised him saying, "Why did you sing this part off-key?" But deep in his heart, when Amit sang his first song for Aandhi, Kishore Kumar attended the recording and had tears in his eyes. Imagine how proud he must have felt when Amit-da's hard work paid off many years later when he beat Kishoreda on the filmfare awards.

Moral of the story: Compliment appropriately and give honest (not brutally honest) opinions. If all EMET contestants were heard "acha gaya" or "ROCKING" or "MINDBLOWING" all the time, then how will they face music directors (or strict ones) that say things like, "how can you sing like that for this song?" or maybe even more harsher comments. It's better they be ready now to deal with things like this, being a part of professionalism, rather than later.

Initially, I was displeased when I heard Paresh Rawal was the judge (as with other non-musical celebrity judges). But his comments (not for the sake of sounding different) were truthful. Especially with that who SR mess, Paresh is right that don't dwelve into petty matters like this. In this competition, singing and only singing (sighs... okay performance too 🤢) matters.

good post kb!

to what u said i will also add this- if one doesnt give honest appraisals, one risks losing credibility. and then if one loses credibility, whatever one says will not be received.

but there is a place and a time for all such things. i dont feel the "Kasar Rahi" would have been publicly announced. ditto for KK's admonition to AK- as your story goes, it happened on the way home.

there's a lot of human resources-type training that is often provided in how to offer constructive criticism. i am not sure that a 10 second "acha nahee thha" public critique wld do it. it is neither specific nor very constructive, two basic requirements...

so moral of the story- if one is unable to offer an honest appraisal because it might be too harsh, one might want to tone it down. such things are in any case perhaps best left for private, same as a job appraisal interview.

Samajhdaar aadmi ke lie one word or 4 seconds long sentence is enough, that is what Kishore Bhakta ji is trying to say. Saying "Kasar Rah gaya" will harldy take 2 second but Samajhdaar aadmi samajh jaayega. Aor naa samajh ke lie 1 page long essay bhi de do it is useless. It is my last post regarding this 10 seconds debate. My statement is in general perspective not particular for Paresh Rawel's statement or any guest judge.

a heavy reference to samajhdari followed by a last post stand. am impressed. but sorry if i dont get it. are we disagreeing with what i wrote- that there's a time and place for offering criticism? is that wrong? didnt KK wait to be on the way home before he scolded AK?

incidentally, does one rebuke a kid in public and expect them to grow up with confidence? SHOULD they? does a boss make a job appraisal in front of other employees? SHOULD HE/ SHE?

ab, thoda precise point mil jata? i can see we dont agree, but what is it? general feeling of disagreement?

Pareshjii told from the outset that he is not a "learned" person when it comes to Singing, didn't he? Then why would he talk about the details of what was missing. He told what he felt as a listener.
dekhane kaa rawaiiyya hai bhaiyye - 13 baar sur gayaa bolanese bhii kuchcha faayadaa to nahii hai. naahii "superb, dil ko chuaa, dil se gaate ho" kehane se hai.

IFF (this is programming lang syntax for if and only if) the contestants can do self examination - "sur Theek nahee thaa" is enough of a feedback for them to re-examine where it might have gone wrong. This is not a 12th or engineering exam where questions have set answers.

NOTHING equals "months & years of training". But is that a pre-req while taking part in the competition that we are discussing about? NO.
So 10 days of hype on national TV where the audience is millions is quite a big hype to make the contestant feel amongst "stars" and so Kabhijii said 10 seconds are enough to make a contestant realize that he is still very much on the earth. :) . Simple !
