It was most probably HR who said that Sanchari Bose was not matured enough. He advised her to come back after one or two years. I have a recording of Sanchari singing "Sharm aati hai magar aaj ye kehna hoga" from 'Padosan'. and another masterpiece of Lataji "Haye re woh din kyu na aye re" composed by Pandit Ravishankarji. I will try and post the audios of these in near future. After listening to these two songs which she sung about 4 years back, anybody with an average ear for music will agree with me that this little girl puts some of today's contestants (and most of the besure Indian Idol contestants) to shame.

The only problem I found with her was she was too simple for the glamour which C2005 demanded and did not give her best. I still consider her the best I have seen (at her age). I certainly differ on the maturity issue if what HR(or whoever) meant was voice maturity. This girl is way ahead of many for her age.

It will be great if you could post Sanchari's songs... I just love this girl... Just too good for her age, and actually beyond age... You are right, C2005 was too glamorized for her, and may be good that she did not get through... I still cannot forget her 'Hamesha tumko chaha' from Devdas in one of the earlier SRGM episodes

Hi everyone,

I also loved the Children Specials episodes, and I can remember one
episode in the days of Sonu Nigam hosting the show, there was a girl
called Pushpa Rani, I believe from Nepal, who sang Aayega Aanewala! It
was simply superb!! I believe I have that song on one of my old VHS
tapes. Meenakshi Sheshadri was the guest "judge" on that episode.

Ever since I have been waiting to hear from Pushpa Rani as I considered
her to be immensily talented and melodious. She had a very sweet voice..
but I must say also a little attitude. Does anyone else remember this
episode, and more particularly Pushpa Rani?

Pushpa Rani also sang "ai mere watan ke logo"... correct?

Are you talking about the girl who was given a choice of this song by Usha/Meena? Was is Aishwarya?

all of you are so right! i really miss those old shows - the quality was definitely much better than now. i mean, i still watch srgmp, but i don't enjoy it as much as i used to.

i loved abhrokanti, too - he was really great with the sufi-type songs. there were several that he sang that i really liked a lot.

i was really mad when sanchari was bumped off from the challenge last year, but considering what the show became near the end (more about dance and stage presence than singing and basically the same songs being sung over and over again), she was probably better off not being a part of the circus. i think it was lalit who said she wasn't mature enough initially, and then himesh gave her a second chance and chose the other girl (for some reason i thought it was joyeet and not banjyotsna, but i might be mistaken).

anyway, thanks for a great topic and reminding me of why i fell in love with srgmp in the first place - it was shows and singing like on the children's special.

this is actually my first post. Now that you guys are discussing the
Children Specials I'm very curious about any replies on the following:

Thanks to all of you for reminding me of that wonderful series. To
answer some loose questions:

Sanchari was given a thumbs down by JL because they felt that her voice
was changing and then she was given another surprise chance (also how
Rajeev and Vishwas came back) and sang against Banjo and HR picked
Banjo which at the time I thought was crazy but given the way they later
sexed up the show, I am glad that our sweet Sanchari was left out of that
nonesense.

Little Aishwarya was amazing with Kuhu Kuhu Bolye Kolailya (which I
think that should be a required audition piece for all SRGM contestants).
Usha M. was bowled over by her.

Abrokanti was just perfect. It was so sad when he lost to Abhas who also
was good but IMO not as good. But he did (as Shaan commented) have
an exceptional day at the finals.

Speaking of the children's special, do you remember these other two boys
(Jaan and Akshay) who sang with Sunidhi (Ding Dang Ding Dole) -- I
forgot their names completely but they were so good - -sorry to say this
but much better than Debo and Vinit in the same song with Sunidhi.

They really should have a show like that in parallel for the rest of us
interested in just music.
