Ek Main Aur Ek Tu' gives Rajiv another chance

April 07, 2006

By Subhash K. Jha, Indo-Asian News Service

Mumbai, April 7 (IANS) The pairs on Zee's 'Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Ek Main Aur Ek Tu' are not uniformly likeable. But Rajiv Kumar from the Chamba valley is back with a bang.

He got eliminated from the 'Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005' when there were eight contestants left and this time in the duet format he teams up with another 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa' singer Sanchali.

According to 'Ek Main Aur Ek Tu' producer Gajendra Singh: 'Rajiv's sudden fall and then rise has been phenomenal. It just goes to prove that audience polls cannot be relied on because Rajiv got eliminated from 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa' when there were eight contestants left. Now on 'Ek Main Aur Ek Tu' he's immensely popular.'

But will 'Ek Main Aur Ek Tu' generate the kind of interest that the 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge' did?

'Why not? Just because the contestants in 'Ek Main Aur Ek Tu' were eliminated from 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge' it doesn't necessary follow that the contestants would be inferior,' said Singh.

'Ameya Date, who went all the way to the final four on Sony's 'Indian Idol 2', was a 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa' contestant several times over. And Rajiv's popularity among audiences proves there's always a second chance on television music contests.'

I totally disagree...Apart from Sharib, Hrishikesh-Prajakta, and Vishwas...all of the other participants in EMAET ARE INFERIOR to the C2005 participants. Is Gaj saying that Irfan and Rajeev are at the same level as Hema and that Joyeeta, Sinchan and Raktima are at the same level as Nihira and Himani 🤢 ????

Yes, I like Rajeev too. I hope he does well this time. He is very capable of singing well, he just lets his stage fear, or nervousness affect his singing.

He has a very good partner in Sanchali. She sings well, and seems to be a good sport overall. Having that good attitude is needed for that 'chemistry'. When she was paired with Rajiv, if she had any issues with it, she didn't express it. She went with it. If Rajeev stays consistent, they could do well (but with public voting anything can happen or not happen).

I totally agree with you Aditya. Sharib , Hrishikesh-Prajakta and Vishwas are true artists and they can be compared to all those top 5. Sharib and Vishwaas deserved to be in the top 5 of challenge. but unfortunately they were not lucky to be. But other contestants in EMET are inferior and they cannot be compared to contestants like Hema, Nihira etc.

Agreed! I believe in Sanchali as a good singer. In Challenge, she was not consistant enough but before getting eliminated from the competition in judges round itself who can forget the song "GUSTAKIYAN" rendered by her. Thats where she was recognised as a good contestant. But now she seems to be back with a big bang........She is definitely going to be tough for others in this competition.......... Besides this she is a very good human being too. She takes everything sportingly. I am not a great fan of her, but I believe that she is a good singer despite her nasal voice.
