In Hindu mythology, Ramayan, Ram's wife Sita was kidnapped by a Rakshas, Ravan, whose sister is Shurpanakha.

She was a demoness, who could trasform herself into any form.

She spotted Ram's brother Lakshman in the vanvaas and liked him and transformed herself into a beautiful woman and tried to seduce him. Lakshman rejected her advances and as she was proud of her pretty face, he cut off her nose. Without the nose or rather a bleeding nose, her pretty face was disfigured.
