Friends, in an earlier posted thread "Kahin Deep Jale Kahin Dil", we discussed about the song Naina barse being sung by Madanji, when Lataji was unwell. He sang the song so that it can be picturized on Sadhana. The on-lookers at Simhla were shocked, amused, and some worried when they saw Sadhana's mouth moving to a man's voice. I think it would have added a mysterious angle if they kept it in the original voice of Madanji.

Without me babbling, here is the link.

Kishore , I am sure you must have heard
song composed by Ravi shanker" Haye wo din kion na aaye" film Anuradha. On which raag it is based?

It's a beautiful song, all other songs in that movie too. I was hearing it just yesterday. Read somewhere that this song is based on Kalavati raag.

???????

because , In kalavati komal N is used isn't it 😕( I have very premitive knowledge of Thats😭 )

I didn't get it

Dawn ji, my knowledge of ragas is also very very limited...and I know very little about classification of raagas under Thaats. I also think Kalavati comes under Khamaj Thaat...but I would like Kishore ji or AD ji to explain it in detail.

Svmji and Dawnji are both correct in that it is a Khamaja Thaat, not Kalyana That. It is not Kalyana, because there is a komal ni, not a shuddha ni.

The aroha/avaroha is S G P D n D S', S' n D P G P D P G S

This sounds like a raga used in the Carnatic system called Raga Jana Samodhini, which is the same swar set as Kalavati, but includes a shuddha re.

This song from Anuradha is Kalavati. Another song that is in this raga is the theme song from Hum Kisise Kum Nahin (1977).
