I've actually had someone ask me whether we consider rats sacred or not. I thought that was knowledgeable on their part...kind of. At least they were aware of that.

But when I tried explaining about Ganpati Bapa Moria and the Gods having various modes of transportation and all...needless to say the person got lost. 😆

Now how do you explain Hinduism to a goru???!!!

I read somewhere..."You cannot convert to Hinduism, you are born into it." I like that quote. Not to sound religously-centric, but in a way it's true. Being a Hindu is more than just following a religion. It is being part of a culture, steeped in traditions and values.

When i had first come to US and started working, one of my colleagues came and told me that we Indians have very difficult names which they found difficult to pronounce and asked me whether he can call me "Sam". I said okay but only if you allow me to call you "Popatrao".

😆 Popatrao... 😆

Names...oh names! I've got a doozy of a name. Without fail, they'll just pause when they come to me. 😆
