The most popular of course is "yun na reh reh kar hamein tarsaiye"...

Its said that his Guru gave him saffron out of jealousy so that his voice wouldn't remain the same...

wait up...

On second thoughts, you'll first have to listen to the next couple of songs I'm posting... 😆

Its not the same... Its a traditional song (by Pt Haridas?) and was used in both the movies ("Tansen" and "Sangeet Samrat Tansen")...

I liked Mannadey's version better but again its my personal opinion...

I know of 2:
Tansen -> KL Saigal
Sangeet Samrat Tansen -> Bharat Bhushan

Of course, Tansen made an "appearance" in Baiju Bawara as well...

Thanks for clearing the doubt.

But yes Mannada is the best in that song.

There is one relatively lesser known song of Pankaj Mullick in Sanskrit "Hey Chandrachooda" dedicated to Shiva which is absolutely divine. Even a person indifferent to music will get transfixed by that song. I don't think the song is available any more. My mother had on tape which got spoilt and she has given up on hearing it again. 😭

Are you referring to this song by any chance?
