Kisi ki muskurahato pe ho Nisar... and sajanwa bairi ho gaye haamar are the two songs where I feel the essence of the lyrics was so well captured by Mukesh, the singer and Raj Kappor the actor...the combination was sheer magic....actually gives u goose bumps..watching these 2 songs!!

There are soooooooo many songs which seems to be master pieces..His songs would transform you to the other world....I was reading through all the posts and was surprized to see how many superduper hits he has..Almost every song is a superhit (as mentioned)...

I am remebering when I had been listening to all those songs..you get connected to the song so fast..next you wanna sing like him....cuz his songs would feel simple and easy to hum...There is some very deep quality in his voice which literally bring out all the emotions and feelings in the song in a very simple manner..

What a thread...wanna go back and listen to all those songs again..Thanks Bhakta ji ..

Bhakta Da - welcome back! Great Post. Mukesh's voice suited RK so well. RK's favorite project was Joker. He loved it so much, he refused to edit the movie to under 3 hours. Jeena Yahan, Marna Yanhan was one of RK's top favorite songs and a long one too. Very well written, compsed and Mukeshjee did a beauty on this one.

Mera Naam Joker is one of the many movies where Mukesh gave his best.

In Mera Naam Joker, Jeena Yahan Marna Yahan was recorded twice (one to release on record, and one especially for the film). If you watch the film and listen to the record carefully, you'll see differences in spacing, ornamentation in certain words, and how long notes were held.

This movie had three singers sing for Raj Kapoor (Mukesh, Manna Dey, and Mohammed Rafi).

Nitin Mukesh made his debut in this film for singing for young Rishi Kapoor. Here is the photo of Mukesh watching his son (who was in his early teens at the time) record.

Mukesh has one unreleased song in this film. It is the second verse to "Awara Hoon" that he resang for the film. Using the "technological advances of the 70s", the music sounded better, and the song that was meant to be a "happy" song became sad.

Thank you Da - the movie, the songs, RK, Mukesh and your refresher on Joker above are a marvel. Joker was very dear to RK - he was told my many gurus that it would lose money at the Box Office but he didnt care - he wanted to make it as a tribute to the film industry and all his favorite heroines (Nargisjee, Vyjantimalajee, etc...) - sort of his way of saying "Thank You"..... 😉

I saw here many great songs of Mukesh were poated and I alost like many of them bur here are some rare songs once must listen to ... They r not that famous

1> Bahe na kabhi nain se neer (Dr Vidya in year 1946). Mukesh sang for Dev Anand
2> Aae payase dil bezuban - picturised on Jaikishan
3> Dil ki pareshaniyan Ishq ki viraniyan - picturised on Balraj Sahni - movie - Humlog
4> Hum aaj kanhidil kho baithe - Andaaz
5> Dil tujhe diya tha rakhne ko - Malhar (Mukesh himeself was hero)
6> Tara tute dunyia dekhae - Malhar
7> Kanha ho tum zara aawaaaz do - malhar (duet wit Lata)
