Ya I agree to a certain extent. I have grown up in the middle east so never really exposed to south indian music much though I am telugu. My g'parents used to tell me that this show on E Tv (Telugu channel) Paaduta Tiyaga by S P Balasubramanium (I think Hema took part in tat one) has really high standards and if not for the language barrier this show is at par with SRGMP. I never believe them but a few years back I went and show the show and I was impressed. I didn't understand a lot of what they were singing but they were impeccable interms of clasical value.. Can u imagine 10 Hemas !! It was like that, so perfect in sur, taal, laya, everything...

The judges there like in the prev SRGM would ask singers to sing songs in a particular raag, its really interesting. I guess that is one reason why there isn't much popularity for SRGM.

Do you think Karunya has a chance to become the next Indian Idol, since he too hails from the South?

i think karunya stands a better chance of winning cuz i think II voting is relatively less of regional basis. SRGM did a blunder by reagional appealing wlhich was wrong. so lets hope for the best, i dunno really care who wins as long as amey n karu are the finalists.

I have my own doubts on that. I think there is regional or "dedicated voting" atleast to some extent even in Indian Idol, or we wouldn't have had Anuj and /or Sandeep stay in the game for so long, despite really unimpressive performances.

The reason I even raised the ques is because in Saregamapa, Hema had more chances of getting home votes because of the 1 week voting period. But in Indian Idol, the voting period is less than 24 hours and Karunya, though talended, is barely doing well votes-wise. Same for Amey.. but that's the trend we have seen with contestants from Mumbai.. Nihira was out early, and Meenal and Amey are almost hanging off the cliff.

Fortunately or unfortunately, they don't show voting trends in Indian Idol to make a speculation. I too would love to see both Amey and Karunya make it to the final episode of Indian Idol.

I agree with ummmm. I dont see Karunya let alone winning even going to top 3. As much as we dont want, I think it is still very region biased. But I think Amey is a better singer to win.I would at least be happy if Amey makes it to final, and hopefully Sandeep and Anuj are out soon. They really dont have that much talent.
Antara is ok but not outstanding and usually slips out of sur on high notes

To me Karuniya has melodious voice, His singing is touching my heart more than Ameya. I will support Karuniya first and if he get out then I will support Ameya, then Meenal and then Antra. And none of them belong to my zone.

Ya, Karunya and Amey deserve to be the final two. Amritha, just a factor, because II doesn't show the regional votes doesn't mean regionalism exists there. One of the episodes Aman Verma asked Karunya whyhe is being in bottom 3 inspite of good performances, he said that its because people down south dont watch hindi shows much and most people do get votes from home town.

Sandeep and Anuj should be out soon and then the REAL II will start with some super fireworks to come..

Just wish SRGMP fate doesnt befall on Karunya or Amey like it fell on Hema and Nihira

ya i agree. i'm sure there is regional bias in II voting, i may b wrong but i feel it is relatively lower when compared to SRGM. mayb cuz in the mumbai concert, karunya got the loudest cheers from the crowd. at least in II there is no single region voting in order to make a statement .
