Real Challenge to Top 5

[No Bashing, No Biased comments here please.]

What song you think of for individual top 5 contestants – to really try their capability and why? In other words – what song you will ask them to sing to test their real talent and why?

Here goes my list:

1. Debojit : "Chanda Rey Chanda Rey" : (Hariharan/ARR) to test his voice at high notes.
2. Vinit: Any slow paced filmi Ghazals e.g. "Tum Itna Jo Muskura Rahe Ho…" (Jagjit Singh)
3. Hemachandra: Tough choice – but I would like him to sing "Hath Chute Bhi To Rishtey Nehi Chuta Karte" (Jagjit Sing form Movie: Pinjar) to test his emotional maturity.
4. Himani: "Mera Kuch Saaman" (RD/Asha) again to try out her emotional maturity.
5. Nihira: Can't think of anything to put her in a "catch 22 situation". Really! Can you think of any?

heeeeeeeeeeeeey thats a good discussion. I just finished watching Saregama. And you are so right about Nihira.. I can't even think of any song...hmm maybee Jiya Dhadak Dhadak by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. The one that Himani sang and totally rocked!!!That type of song might challenge her..

Nihira will excel at that song also any day! Nihira can carry folk songs very well. I agree with most ppl on this board that Nihira is just way ahead of everyone else in this contest.

Having said this, out of the remaining two, Debojit is ofcourse better.

I think "chup chupke chup ke chori se chori" from bunty&babli would suit Nihira the best 👏

I know Nihira sang 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna' exceptionally well, but would have really liked to see, how she would carry 'Aitaraaz yaar ka' (the one that Himani just rocked, inspite of being sick..

Also for Himani - will like to see how she handles 'Chhalka chhalka re' as it has a lot of jumping notes..

OK....here is my list:

1. Vinit: Jalte hai jiske liye (Talat Mehmood)I do not think he has sung this type of song b4....wud love to hear him sing it.

2. Debojit: Jiya dhadak dhadak jaaye (to test whether he can sing the variation in the antara)

3. Hema: Laaga chunri mein daag....no doubt he wud be able to do justice to it. it wud be a pleasure to hear him sing this one.

4. Himani: Tanha tanha yahan pe jeena (Rangeela)

5. Nihira: Jiya jale jaan jale (Dil Se)

I believe every singer has his/her own category of songs that they excel at, and it is not necessary for them to prove that they can sing every type of song. So I would not want to give them something against what is their forte just to prove that they are versatile. Just my opinion 😊 The main factor in my choices above is that I would love to hear them sing these songs 😊
