Lovers of mellifluous music and viewers of Zee TV would be well aware of their flagship program Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. Over the years this program has introduced to the Indian films talents like Shreya Ghoshal (Dola Re Dola) , Kunal Gunawala (Bheege Hont Tere etc), Sanjeevani Bhelance (kareeb) and Sneha Pant (Kyo Ho Gaya Na and Masti). In this season of 2005, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa is conducting its first reality show - Challenge 2005 A Musical Mahayudh. After an all India audition of over 1 Lakh hopefuls, the judges (Jati Lalit, Aadhesh Shrivsatava, Himesh Rehsmmiya and Ismail Darbar) selected 32 participants for the final fray and after several gruelling rounds have short listed 8 contestants and further 2 participants will be selected by way of public vote.

Hemachandra (18 years), proud son of Andhra, is one of the selected finalists and in fact is the only representation from South India. Born in a family of musicians and scholars, Hemachandra has given his first performance at tender age of 5. He won several awards at state and national competitions for his singing talent. Hemachandra gave numerous stage shows in the presence of eminent singers like Sri SP Balasubrahmanyam, Sri PB Srinivas, Smt. S Janaki, Sri Kumar Sanu, Sri AR Rahman and Sri Lata Mangeshkar. Hemachandra has also made a humble beginning in playback singing singing 2 songs in the recently released Telugu Movie - Vamsham.
