Nahin yaar, leave the mentors, even other musicians gave Vinit quite good points, but that is besides the point but ur analogy was quite intelligent, it will take people atleast 5 minutes to figure out😉
i can understand where those judges were coming from. fwiw, i too was rooting 4 vinit in the earlier rounds- he caught my attention perhaps because i cldnt stand JL's antics, i'd heard Vinit previously with his Fiza song which i found (to borrow that phrase) "mind-blowing", n i found HR standing up 4 a deserving guy. If u'd had the vote then, i wld have been solidly with Vinit. he caught my eye like no one else.
but somewhere later, i began to feel as i do now that Vinit is pretty one-dimensional. His is the 3K-5K frequency range when incidentally good western classical gets down as low as 25Hz. And the more HR hyped him n got his cronies to give him high marks, the more i felt that Vinit was getting a free ride. Some of these later rounds also exposed that uni-dimensionality.
my experience with debo has been quite the reverse. he started above average n today i truly feel he is the best. sure, if u want to be really analytical, he has his shortcomings. but in terms of what the ears can take for hours on end without tiring, his voice is almost as smooth as they come. no harshness. not a note of shrillness. n i am a strong believer in any case that art n music n beauty, indeed most of life, is not subject to mathematical logic of perfect sur or taal or perfect nose or eyes. it's more sublime n 4 some rational/ irrational reason, i found that in debo's singing. (n this bit of irrationality coming from a guy trained in the rational disciplines of business & finance!)
of course, my views may change tomorrow, as they have 4 vinit. ur likes n dislikes n ur tastes r not guaranteed to stay the same. so who knows abt tomorrow. u might yet find me someday in vinit's camp. but he's not there now.😉
