SaReGaMaPa 2005 -- ending on a bitter note
Mass voting from Assam is what has brought him here. Otherwise, he should have been out much before. In fact, in the last round he got 2.2 million votes 1.5 million of which came from the North-East i.e. Assam actually. In Assam massive campaigns are being organised in Debojit's support (source: Daily News & Analysis). Even some state politicians urged the people to vote for Debojit. This is sick!
Taken fromDaily News & Analysis:
Chiran, a local youth, got an SMS from one of the students' organisations requesting him to send at least 50 SMSs in favour of Debojit. "I didn't send fifty but I did send quite a few of them and I also forwarded the message to my friends," Chiran said.
A massive rally rolled out in Guwahati city last Saturday with banners and posters asking people to vote for him while people in Silchar have launched a door-to-door campaign asking residents to vote for the 'son of the soil'.
The other 3 contestants -- Vinit, Hemachandra and Himani -- did the right thing in wanting to walk out of the contest. What's the use of fighting anymore? After all, they don't have large organisations who would launch massive campaigns supporting them or even politicians to spread their word. Debojit will get the highest votes again and again.
I had high hopes on Himani. This brilliant and dynamic girl from Haryana, who had won the hearts of one and all with her magical voice, once again moved us all with her candid speech while leaving. And the selection of her last song really reflects her intelligence -- a song previously sung by Debojit. The difference between the two performances is what she apparently cited as the glaring evidence of the injustice she had to become a victim of.
I only hope that the public throws away Debojit in the very next round. But that will be possible only if the rest of the Indians turn to aggressive voting like Assam
