You are 100% right. Taikoo a silent, low profile, humble IF member. Never made noise about his knowledge or his musical family background. I bet you there are more members in this forum who do not talk much about their family background about music. But feel very good about knowing and meeting all musically learned people.

very true varshaji........

hi friends,
i would like to mention about Varshaji...(she mentioned somewhere on the forum and i'm reproducing it)

Varshaji' father's Masaji (Uncle) was awarded with 22KT golden shawl by president of India in Rajkot for singing complete SamaVeda. There was a big parade which took place in his honor.
His name was "Revashankar Shashtri" Trivedi to be lastname.

Varshaji you come from such a great family.......... 😊

Thanks Deepa for mentioning this. I am extremely honored and priviledged for being born in Trivedi family. Also at the same time being married into Musically trained family. I owe that to my husband for opening my heart to music and ofcourse pets😊.

We knew that some of the comments being made on music were from trained minds, but to know of the training behind them, the legacy they carry with them and the knowledge they have shared with us today, it is simply fantastic.

Priya, actually there are many more such gems hidden in this great forum. When I scratched the surface, I discovered the few gems that I mentioned. Like this many other may have discovered few more...my intention was to bring out the details of such persons...

Taikoo, you mention that with SRGMP getting over, your association with India Forums will also taper off. Why is that?

Simple reason is in Hong Kong we donot get to see any other channels other than Zee and StarPlus. I may visit IF but will not be able to contribute my thoughts or participate in discussions...this is what I meant.

The show may be over, but music surely wont be over. We may not have the shengannians of the mentors or the idiosyncrasies of the Channels to discuss, but we can surely continue to discuss music.

I hope you will agree with me. 😛

Completely agree with you Priya. During these months of participation, IF has become a daily ritual for me....and I am sure to visit IF atleast once a day.

Thanks again to you and the IF team for the good work....cheers.

Now lets look for discovering more gems....

very true - Abhi has invested lot of time and selflessly shared his music
knowledge with IF members, I personally learnt a lot from his postings!

I just noticed this thread and my name on it. Well thank you for including me in your list. I simply don't deserve it at all. When Ustad Bismillah Khan says that his knowledge is but a drop in the ocean of music, then I am not even an atom! But yeh aapka badappan hai varna mera kya vajood.

I will continue to offer any views that I think might add to the discussions on the forums.

For those that reciprocated positively to my threads - I thank you.

For those that reciprocated negatively to my threads - I thank you even more, because you made me re-think my thoughts and go deeper. You did me a favor 😊 .

Please do keep em' coming!

First of all, my heartfelt thanks to IF team for providing this wonderful forum. For people like me who have been away from India, this forum provided a perfect opportunity to express and share views with like minded people.

I have been participating in SRGMP forum for few months now and made few friends here (my first friends were 'pmahesh' and 'MrspetloverUS' 😊 )

As SRGMP is drawing to a close, my participation in this forum is slowly tapering off.

In any case, in the recent weeks, from the PMs that I received, I discovered that IF forum indeed has a few hidden gems (chupa rushtoms/mattilo maanikyalu), amongst its members.

I thought it would be appropriate for me to share this information with you all about these hidden gems.

Here they are:

luvmusic:

'luvmusic''s mother Smt. B.V.S.S.Lakshmi, often referred to as Veena Subbalakshmi in music circles in Vizag, is an acclaimed Veena artiste, singer(Light and Carnatic), writer(many of her short stories are published in AndhraBhoomi & Prabha), her articles on analysis of works of Trinity and other write-ups related to Carnatic music are published in Ganakala, only music magazine in Andhra), composer(composed many musical features and provided music for Kuchipudi Ballets like Natyaavirbhavam, Nadavedam,SwarnaBharati etc).

'luvmusic' herself learnt Carnatic music and Light music from her mother and Smt.Sarada Subrahmanyam for abt 10 years and after a gap for 6 years she is now back to daily practise and learning through net.

pam309:

'pam309' learned dance in Hyderabad from Vempati China Sathyam's disciple. Though she is an accomplished 'kuchipudi' dancer, she left it as she moved to Kuwait along with her husband. Understand she did an impromptu dance, to Shri. Balamurali Krishna's Tillana, during one of his visits to the Gulf.

kd286:

'kd286' (Deepa)'s grand father is the famous Shri. Kamalakara Kameswara Rao who directed evergreen films like "Narthanasala", "Pandava vanavasam", "Maha mantri timmarusu" etc. Great celebrity that he is, he was associated closely with Shri. Ghantasala and other celebrities during filming of these evergreen movies.

kishore_bhakta:

Understand kishore_bhakta is a talented person and plays a number of instruments. Of late we have not seen educative posts from this gentleman. Those who know more about him, please post in this thread.

bigmac:

We already know bigmac i.e., AnuragHarsh is another celebrity/gem in this forum with his brilliant posts. Those who haven't known about him yet, can go to any of his posts which has a link to his personal website.

maniguha:

autmother:

Understand from their posts that 'maniguha' and 'autmother' are also classically trained musicians. Appreciate if they or any one can post more details about their talents here. Thanks.

In addition to the few mentioned above, there are a quite a few number of celebrities/gems hidden among IF members. Humble that they are, all these hidden gems may not come out and talk about themselves. Hence, I encourage friends of these hidden gems/ celebrities to post particulars of such gems here. While posting, please use discretion so that the person's privacy is respected.

Hope to discover more such gems here…..

Thanx for the info. Iwas myself wondering about the forum members. It's good to see their are so many as you say gems here. As for me, I am totally failed singer. I have trmendous interest in music and assumed wrongly that I could be a good singer. Arter learling indian classical for a while, I had to face the bitter truth that I will have to settle down for bathroom singing strictly. yeah, but I would like to give it another try. only can't find a guru in australia.

Anurag, You already are a success in your life. Your humility will give you further more successes.

Hope to see more posts/opinions/analyses from you.

Cheers...

monet, YW. Yes, you should keep your interest intact and whenever classical musicians visit Australia for their concerts, you could take the opportunity to talk to them and start your learning, even if it is only for few days. From my experience I can tell you, these celebrity musicians would definitely appreciate if someone is keen to learn...best of luck...
