IDs comments about AR RAHMAN - Page 2

I'm shocked reading this article. ID is so over obssesed with his compositions. It good to like ur work but not so foolishly taht u cant appreciated another great musicians work.

although i support ID the most out of the three mentors, i would hav to say that this is the most arrogant comment someone could make. First of all, ID is so much older and senior to A.R. Rahman, and being jealous of him is pathetic. it's like a parent being jealous of his child. Sure, Id is a good music director, but definitely not better than A.R. rahman. he's only composed music for two films ,and rahman has been ruling the industry for the past decade. Devdas music was not better than Saathiya or Taal in any way. when i first heard the songs without watching the movie, i was like, what kind of songs are these? I think a lot of credit of devdas songs goes to its picturization and cinematography. Maar Daala and dola re dola only sound good when you watch it with the lavish sets and the extravagant costume and choreography. but Rahman's music has a haunting feeling, even if you listen to them with your eyes closed with no idea of what movie it's from, one is bound to get goosebumps. the quality is incomparable. so ID should stop acting childish, and have respect for everyone. Truly shameful, must say.

ID better than ARR I feel AR music is like 50-60% similar. ID has unique quality. ARR is also uniqe but not as good as ID.

I feel we should compare ID,JL,AS and HR here as these four are associated with SRGMP. This post is something like posting new topic titiled "Himesh says Rafi ko kon sunta hai aaj"😡

I feel Devdas was better than Saathiya..

But these kind of statements hsows his arrogance

AR Rehman's Taal is much better than what ID has been able to produced till now, let alone Rehman's Roja and other great compositions.

Music is not always about foot tapping beats. HR has better foot-tapping beats than ARR. Beats, anyone can do. It takes guts and genius to compose the way ID did for HDDCS and Devdas. Certainly, those two are better than Saathiya and Taal.

We should shed this colonial hangover of ours....anything which is recognised by the west is better. That's stupid. The west only identifies with what is popular and what is marketed well. They will identify with music which has beats and chords and stuff...synthetsised stuff. It doesn't mean that it is better. What is better and what is not, mainly depends upon the situation for which it is being composed and the sensibility of the people at which it is directed at.

I wouldn't give ID any such project like what HR gets nowadays. And I would be insane to give HR a Devdas or an Umrao Jaan and such.

That said, we can compare the sensibilities of people. There are more people in India who think that dancing to beats, being flamboyant, hip-hip and happening and aping the west totally is the best way to live. Indian values and tradition are lost. And there are people who're humble, simple, traditional, mature and live well still. What kind of people are better? It is certainly true that the kind of music we listen to identifies with our personality.

In the same way, anything western need not be bad. We must not ape the west but there is no harm in taking some good characters from other cultures.

ID is an overgrown child... but cute😆 The fact that HR is present in SRGMP makes ID 100 times cuter.

ID & ARR shoudn't be compared, both are musicians of diff style & mode.
ARR emphasises more into instrumental while ID is more classical & puts vocalists to tough test. Some of the ARR's music is heavily synthesized and therfore naturally liked by insrtumentalists.
ARR is at times repetetive as well.
But no denying that ARR is commercially much more successful than ID.
This article is quite old and has already been discussed in the forum in abundunce.
Im myself a huge fan of ARR & ID alike.
One shouldn't read too much into such articles.
