Zee's musical show, Challenge 2005, is on an interesting musical trip. Sources reveal that 12 contestants who were voted out of the show will be coming back for another round.
The Challenge finalists with Shaan, the show's host
Confirming this development, Senior Vice President, Essel Group, Ashish Kaul, said, "Yes we are getting those who were eliminated back on the show.
We have been getting a tremendous response from across the country from participants. We thought, why not give those who were voted out another chance? They anyway had the public's support throughout."
New format
As per the new format, the channel is scheduled to make an announcement in the near future. "We haven't yet decided if there will be 12 or 24 contestants, but we will come to a decision very soon. The judges will most likely remain the same, and once the finale ends, we will go ahead with the new format."
Channel wars
Ashish is upbeat about the response the show has generated. "Challenge has worked wonders for us. Not only have we dislodged Sony from the number two slot, but our overall ratings have also gone up," he says.
Talent matters
Does he feel the heat from Indian Idol? "Fortunately, we didn't have to spend money on our singers. Their talent spoke for itself. I think Challenge singers have proved that no Idol can attract viewership unless there is real talent."
