Sandesh, pritam and shantanu...so called GENNEXT composers...if this is the next generation of indian music, we should better learn some other language. a look at the judges yesterday.....
Prittam: Copy cat number one!! still waiting for his first genuine melodious original hit. He is worse than HR in lifting songs...
Shantanu: claim to fame, parineeta and yahaan. Quality songs: naam ada likhna and kasto mazaa. he actually copied piyu bole and kaisi paheli zindagani. I wanted to forget kaisi paheli zindagani...but they show the original song in a TV ad in USA so frequently that I just cant enjoy the song.
Piyu bole, it was vidhu vinod chopra's honesty that he gave credit to tagore.
Sandesh: Very little work he has done so far, quality hits include suraj hua maddham and all chameli song. Could have easily gotten all the awards in 2004 for chameli but didnt due to big P. Has to do more work more frequenly. Kabhi khushi kabhi ghum was in 2001 and chamei was in 2004, so its very slow output. latest Sun zara is ok, very run of the mill..kinda music. Collaboration with clayderman on "Uff kya jadoo..." didnt work out too.
So all these composers only had a couple of hits and less than ten all put together. It just doesnt give any room for choice for a singer. Someone could have easily written an update yesterday for todays's episode..it was that predictable. They could not even take a stand....on any singer.
The new format is really good for contestents and reality show addicts but very harsh on quality music listeners.
