Comments of Shri Subhash Ghai for Debo's attempts:

1.Yeh haseen vadiyan-A extremely difficult song to perform live when one has not prepared for it.Debo says-"Koshish karta hoon".It speaks a lot of his humbleness as well as his guts to take this difficult song.Although he does not reach the very high notes in this song(which is very difficult to achieve without retake and also when you did not prepare beforehand),he manages the song without going besura at any point in the song.

Subhashji's comments-Debojit has maintained the "Whisper" effect in the song and "main Debojit ko is baat ki mubarakbad deta hoon".

2.Ek haseena thi-Debojit could bring life into the song with his eyes closed and he completely emerges into the song and live s upto it.

Subhashji's comments-"Debojit is gaane ki aatma mein ghus gaya tha" and he termed Debojit's attemmpt as very good.

As we all have noticed that Subhashji is an extremely talented person who almost tracks every song deep down to its roots in terms of requirements as per the situation of the song ,we notice that according to his comments Debojit also drills into the requirements of the song when preparing for it and performing.Mind you,Kishoreda is the most successful playback singer because of his quality of getting into the feel of the song and not just singing. As per today Debojit has sung for "Choker Bali" a film by Ritupo*no Ghosh which has got a lot of international acclaim. He is into playback singing(may be not for a lot of today's Bollywood songs) and thus have a definite edge when it comes into getting into the song.He also has a good voice quality.

Vineet is also a talented singer and he performs at high notes extremely well but it will require him sometime before he learns the tit bits of playback singing and be a good playback singer(which he can definitely be).

What you all say?

anyday i wld say that feel for a song (or situation for that matter) is the critical element in any performance. u cld be a master at math computation, but unless u have a feel for real-world problems, u'll never translate that technical mastery into anything productive. u cld be great/ fluent at english, but without the right "feel", u'd fall flat on your jokes. feelings... feelings. Without these, u're just a robot and in that case u cld put together the songs using technology, with no need for human singers! believe me, u cld do that, but it wld not sound nearly as good.

ok im reposting here from your other thread - yr comments are most
welcome:
ardatta - yeh haseen vaadiyan is a really difficult song to sing live -
perhaps the most difficult.

If u listen to the original, u will see that this song is sung by both male
and female voice (Yesudas and I *think, but could be wrong, Chitra). In
the original, when the female voice sings the first line 'yeh haseen
vaadiyan, yeh khula aasmaan, aagaye hum kahaan, ae mere saajnaa' - it
is clear that each of the lines has been dubbed on top of each other. The
beat of the track is actually very fast - too fast to allow for the breath
between each comma, which a live singer would *have* to take.

Later, the male voice and female voice *alternate*, allowing for that intake
of breath.

I thought Debo did fantastically on the higher notes, (esp, at '... pyaar ki
raagini' - he took that raagini so softly - with great feeling and finesse -
totally in the mood of the song).

Where I think he failed is at the first line 'yeh haseen vadi-*yan*' I think
that final 'yaan' meends from ma to komal ga, whereas debo sang regular
ga, which is not the actual note sung there.

I think this is why he sounded just a tiny bit off - he was just a teeny
weeny bit off in a song that I think was the hardest in the show to
perform live, solo, (especially extempore)

Of course, he could have pulled it off if he was like *some* people, who
cheat by adding clicks in tracks like that one...

Ghai was most impartial in giving the views and comments...but i feel he was much impressed by Hema than Debo or Vinit.

Ghai is fully impressed by Hemu.........eveidence is that he promised film chance immediately. He practically counted "jogi" word modulations and commented on that. so no doubt the first winner is Hemu in all respects....keeping away this manipulated votes. ALL THE BEST HEMU.

absolutely it is HEMU who has turned out to be the winner without controversies and just pure unadultrated talent...way to go hemu....finals make no snese now..also when you vote the machine still accepts hemu's vote even though he is voted out...what does that tell you abt the authenticity of the voting system...it sucks just a ploy to get money
