I agree with all these comments but this is simply a part of life everywhere we go. Take cricket as an example, What happened when Ganguly was taken out? So if Saregamapa brought this out, you should not be surprised..

The main culprits are the different advertisements which sometimes play with the region's sentiments. You know in some ads they show BENGALIS to be stupid & callous and the same with Punjabis etc . Its these types of ads that really anger the people and they begin to show regionalism in retaliation. I feel these types of ads should be banned immediately if INDIA is to remain united.

I think that Zee started it with the listing of statistics by region and the
pushing candidates to askf or hometown votes.

But there is an underlying, perhaps permanent problem in India.
Independance was not so long ago and various states and culture resent
the feeling of being marginalized.

in the old days SRGM used to celebrate our divesity with regional and folk
soung rounds but now they have chosen to exploit it. This further
damage to an already divided India will be difficult to overcome.

I don't have time or the inclnation to get into a discussion on how India is
like Europe, blah, blah, blah... I save that speech for my white friends.
Most of you are aware of the history yet stil managed to get sucked into
this manipulation.

Vote for the best singer. Look at the judges - -did Kumar Sanu vote for
Abhijeet or Debo because he a Bengali? No. Did Alka favor a Gujrati over
a Bengali when she voted for Abhijeet over Paresh? No.

I am a Bengali and a very rpoud one at that. Jsut try insulting Bengal or
Kolkata. But I never favoted Joyeeta for example or even Raktima or Keka
per se. I only favor good singers. I think that people who cannot check
regionalism at the door should not participate in musical discussions.

I know we all bring certain prejudices to the table but in music that
should go away. It is an insult to Ma Saraswati who is not limited to
Bengal, Andhra, or the UP.

Thanks.

👏 Very well said!

had she not been hung up on her superstition for things black .. I thought that the toughest competition to Nihira would have come from RAKTIMA..
She was so complete... But again she was in the wrong mentors hand....and not as good looking as well.........
the third best easily was Swananda...

I agree 100%. My fav females singers were Nihira, then Raktima.

Raktima's ye haseen vadiya was far superior to Debo's, but I don't expect any comments on that

Even AS commented she had the potential to win the finals

I always wondered by she commented on wrong color choice when voted out

I think Z TV started it itself. The purpose of the show was to find best singer, then why they started counting/showing votes by region?

Did they make sure that in the end contestents are from different region to startwith?

We fell in their trap & we also starting talking that way. I think we should stop doing that way & focus on just good singer.

Why did we have to be scatterbrained? We are at fault and its no excuse. Shame on Indians for being so vulnerable!😡
