What do you disagree with mithunfan ???

Are songs of these singers available anywhere in the world in MP3 format or CDs ??? Do people have any other alternative if they want to listen to the songs at home, IPODS, or in their cars... ???

There are many people who are freeloaders... but many want to own the orignals too...

Teenagers in my family put music CDS and DVDs as #1 choice in their wish lists for b'days, Xmas, etc...

yes.... but they also know that mostly teenagers have the access to the net... and who told u that only teenagers buy music... whoever can afford to buy music will do so...and teenagers will try to download music first, and if they can't THEN they will try to buy the album... y would u want to pay for something when u r getting it for free... many of these "fans" don't bother spending rs. 6 for their favourites in sms( and this can be seen in the current voting trend), u think they would buy the album for hundreds of rupees??

Second thing is downloading the song doesnot mean they like it because to listen it you have to first download it. After you download and listen the song you can make a judgement. Therefore, download will prove the song that pple like to listen as it was already popular or someones choce.....
What do u say????????

Those are good points…

Some people do download songs just to listen to it… But in this case, most people have probabaly heard these renditions on the show…

If people are not SRGMP fans, they may download songs based on popularity of the song… Though this is true, its not likely… unless the singer is already known, people usually keep searching…

interesting info shesthebest. either way, the information is skewed as multiple voting does not give a true indication of popularity and neither do internet downloads.

we'll only know who's a real winner once the actual albums get released. this has been evidenced countless times through various Idol shows by people like Clay Aiken and Bo Bice. runners-up, but bigger sellers.

Yes, that's true… downloading info can be skewed as multiple voting…

But in this case...

There is really no "reward" for max. downloads, as there is for max. votes

Downloading from cooltoad can be a real pain, so I think only "real" music lovers would do it

How many people would want to go that much trouble just to "skew" download stats... no incentive...

But, I do get your point… we'll only know who really succeeds when albums are released, singers get song contracts, awards, etc etc… (Rahul Vaidya's album sold better than Amit Sana… that's what my neice tells me!!!)

All the BEST to ALL the TOP Challenge Singers !!!!!!!!!! 👏 👏 👏

I am not saying that only teenagers buy music...

I'm saying if you look at the top 10 film songs or non-film songs, its quite evident that its the younger folks making selections... I know I stopped buying CDS because I don't like most current albums of HR / Anu Malik / etc (unless an occasional Swades, Lagaan, Chalte Chalte comes out)... But all the young kids in my family love it and want to buy it...

hey maybe i was a bit too rude to you... but then again even my parents listen to remixes and they like hi hop music... but just based on my family i can hardly say that most adults like these types of music right? same, if u r saying this just cuz the young kids in ur family like to buy music then that might be inaccurate too right? btw i must commend u on ur taste in music, swades, lagaan and chalte chalte r among my favourites too

No problem at all Seema.. .I'm glad you responded continued the discussion... that's the whole point of posting something. People may have a different way to look at things, and we may learn something.

You're right about not generalizing... actually, my mother and my son, both like the same contemporary music sometimes !!! 😆 😆

Thanks for the compliment... those were few good albums that came to my mind...

well from point of view of a rec label company ur arguement makes sense.but from the contest perspective i think the folowing also matters.
internet penetration is far less that of mobiles .Plus downloads of songs take time on most connections even in cities thought to be well connected.Downloads in bulk are i think are definately metro centric. and well each metro has its own perspectves 😉 .Hope that accounts a little for the disparity that u see
