👏 Hats off to you, Sir. Written without a single bias. And written in the true spirit of music. I agree wholeheartedly with you except for one point.

You said debu should've been given 8+1 for his performance. I say, he should've been given 10+1+a chumma for his guts and sheer intensity and determination. 😃

Thank you very much. Well, I said from point of performance, he lacked that one point,(remember this is supposed to be much more than a music contest). Since you are a jankar, I would like to tell you the only solo taans in the qawalis, ie the taans completely sung by one singer only, to that did Debo not do justice? And look at the speed or rhythm of the song, mindblowing man! All hats off to the great Roshan Saab, and ofcourse, Mannada, RAfi Saab and Ashaji. You can even hear slight fumblings in the original song, that is why it is ajramar. It captured the chaos that goes on in qawali competitions. It really captured the essence.

True, true. See, Qawwalis originated as singing competition between singers in a court. It branched off from the rigourous bonds of classical influence around Akbar's time. Actually, the Qawwali was invented by Amir Khusrao, as a form of poetry woven into rythymic singing. And yes, the chaos of a qawwali is perfectly captured, true. And debo did full justice to the taans. He's a class apart.

Roshan Saab ke kya kehne...main ek hin gana suggest karunga - Laga Chunrai Mein Daag. 😃

My favourite is Meine shayad tumhe pehle bhi kahin dekha hai. What lilting melody, slight use of instruments and what vocals. Thats what great singers are made of. ONe for Rafi Saab. Tang aa chuke hai kashmakashe jindagi se hum. Absolutely withiut music to back him up, form Pyasa.👏
