Hi Everyone,

It looks like the song chosen for Nihira may have been partially responsible for her elimination. 😭 😭 The song she sang did not have "mass appeal".

Quoting saregji, from another post, "Consider this, If Nihira had to Sing, Aai Mere Watan ke logo jara Aakh me bhar lo paani, or Vande Maataram by Latadi. Do you think she would have been out today?"

If you could have picked a song for Nihira that had "mass appeal", was "emotionally touching", and would have showcased Nihira's talent and skill, what song would you have selected ??

Here are some songs that I would have loved to hear Nihira sing…

1. Lataji's "Yeh zindagi usiki hai, jo kisi ka ho gaya…" especially the dramatic "alvida" ending… Nihira is so good with the high notes, she would have floored the audience.

2. Lataji's "Pyar kiya to darna kya…" – Very very popular, classic number, has great mass appeal.

3. Lataji's "lag ja gale, ke phir yeh haseen raat ho na ho…" – very soft, romantic song, that is not so easy to sing… it would have brought out Nihira's talent.

4. Ashaji's "Yehi woh jagah hai, yehi woh fizaein, yehi pe kabhi aap humse mile the…" – Its a very haunting, touching melody.

5. Ashaji's "Churaliya hai tumne jo dil ko…" – again, pure mass appeal; copied a million times, but never perfected like the original.

6. Jo wada kiya woh nibhana padega – emotional appeal.

Other songs that came to my mind - Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Aaj phir jeene ki tamana hai… better stop or the list will go on and on… 😊

I would love to hear your choices and comments…

Thanks…

Nihira can sing any type of song Perfectly..100%. Her song Saathire bhool na jana mera pyaar is a very difficult composition and 'emotionally touching' too. I don't understand why she was voted out even after giving such a flawless performance. I think it was that AV "Best Dancer" that was shown on her pointing to that she is not a good dancer which made her exit from the challenge 2005

Hi Nihirafan,

I am not doubting any of your statements above, especially the ones in bold... I think however, the song did not have "mass appeal"... If there was a panel of judges, then no question... but public will vote for songs like "I love you", "Sandese Aate hain", etc ... Infact, Nihira's "I love you" selection is one example of a smart song choice which "floored" the audience.

yes u are right the songs chosen for Nihira were very difficult and high pitched but Nihira was capable of singing those songs but as u said they didnot appeal the general viewers. After all who chooses the song?????????

I'm not sure how they pick songs for each singer… I assumed that each mentor/contestant selected their songs together, but other mentors also must have some input since they cannot have duplication in a particular "theme". Or maybe they are given a list to choose from ????

Thanks for responding.

i agree with all your suggestions plus surpremi's suggestion of "dola re"... the one that freaked me out a bit was ur suggestion of satyam shivam sundaram because i have always said that myself...guess it just goes with her pure, angelic image

other songs which come to mind..."bhor bhaye panghat pe", "ehsaan tera hoga mujh par", "aap ki nazron ne samjha", "aaja aayi bahar dil hai", "ajeeb dastaan hain yeh"...im going to stop there coz i could go on 4ever!

and out of newer songs "kabhi shaam dhale" from sur..."bairi piya" from devdas..."chhoti si asha" from roja...for the sad song theme i think she would have been better off singin "pyar bhara geet koi" from LOC
