honestly speaking i think pure singing and hard work is more then what anyone needs to be a good playback singer

Looks does not really matter - all the great singers were not really good looking and yet they proved themselves to be the greatest singers of all time

looks for only reality shows...not for a true singer...the greatest example is nowadays...Is Rehman a great looker...not at all .But if ur music and singing are of a different dimension you can be a killer..you become attractive automatically.The inner beauty takes over the exterior looks.Same with SP BalaSubramaniam...he is also overweight and not a great looker but he has entered the guiness world book of records for singing max.no. of songs he is a big hit...so many more example.

Why all that so many over here called Abhilasha..educated people..fatso..big buffalo..but the aam janta liked her voice thank god and she is the highest vote getter.

I believe if the talent is so overpowering... looks take a back seat...iMO

i think look means personality of the singer. singer should be learned trained singer with melidous voice, pleasant personality/look beside good performer with knowledge of dance and attractive dialogue delivery as nowadays they have to do stage show beside doing playback singing.

Talent is a must , looks are nice-to-have ...

Shankar ji is very gifted and he is one of the best.
