Voice changes with age. You can hear voice of Lata ji changing during different phases of her career. Some people have the ability to change voice(and that is a gift). It means you have more options. You can be a mimic artist like Sudesh Bhosle and entertain.Kishore Kumar even sang in female voice. He will modulate his voice very often to entertain and make more impact.
Now if you have no control if you need to be singing for 5 min in your own voice and keep on changing the voice than it is a weakness. So modulation plus control is an big advantage. The bottom line is the public should like the song whatever you sing. We will see How Saugandha Mishra do when she record her own songs.

Yeah, they are enough of them doing fantastic stage shows.👏

Not all of them have the luck and the talent and grit that sonu nigam had or the luck of kumar sanu😳

Luck -Sonu Nigam had to struggle for 12 years before he got his independant break-he used to cut albums of Rafi saab with Anuradha Paudwal for T series bef he got full playback singing-so luck was out for him yes for Kumar Sanu-big time luck-Kishore da wasnt there so he plugged in as a Somewhat Kishore daish voice and was lucky enuff to survive the 90's -if he were today -he wud be nowhere-that's pure luck.

I wrote luck, talent and grit for sonu.

it was luck also. At least he got his break after 12 long hard years, there are equally talented people who have not made it main stream ever and have died unsung or living too😳

I have always thought Suganndha-Abhilasha, Mampee and Sniti in that order were good singers amongst girls. However, I'm not sure if Wajid was wrong either , he made a point that she needs to stick to the voice 'she chose' from start to end of the song.
{can't believe that I'm speaking for S-W😭}
To Suganndha's credit she will be able to playback for any heroine by modulating her voice accordingly which is an asset. Everyone almost sounds like someone !!!even amongst the girls now tell me who is that unique - pls dont tell me Sniti - she too sounds almost like Salma Agha or Noorjehan or Ila arun. Abhilasha/Rini/Mampee almost sound like Suman Kalyanpur, Shreya Goshal, Sadhna Sargam. Suganndha just happens to sound like everyone xcept that once in the classical song when I heard her original voice.

The argument here about Wajid isn't about Sugandha's mimicry or voice as a whole... it's about her voice in that one performance on saturday where she went from one voice to another in the same song. Now I doubt she had done this intentionally... most likely it was unintentional which is a drawback and flaw in her singing. Wajid was right. Granted having the ability to change your voice from performance to performance is a huge plus point for a singer, but Vishal's explanation on the matter was totally off point. Yes when he's in the studio the directors may tell him to change his voice quality from song to song, but we're talking about 1 song here. You must folloW*Hrough and end with the voice you started singing in.

I think what Wajid was saying was that Suganndha should retain the same voice quality throughout the song and I think he was right. Her ability to modulate her voice for different songs is indeed wonderful.

wajid and vishal were not contradictory in their statements

vishal did not defend sugandha

both wajid and vishal discussed two different aspects of the same phenomenon

w - changing the voice texture within the same song unintentionally without purpose or point to prove

v - changing voice texture from one song to another or within to show difference in character, mood or environ at the behest of the MD

They both are right in their own sense. They both were talking about two different angles of the same talent. It's interesting.

I actually have this "problem" myself. I tend to do like Sughanda when i sing too. I don't even realize i do it though until someone else asks me if I actually sound like that or not. 😆

Yes, for THIS song he was right. She changed her voice very noticeably to sound like the original and it showed.
this is bound to happen when people like the female voices to sound like Alka or Shreya or sunidhi type.
There can be no verstality in the female voice like we have for the male voices with the likes of Atif Aslam, Mohit Chauhan etc.
