This song was a tribute to Indian soldiers who died during Indo China war (1961-2). It was performed by Lata ji several months after war had ended in front of Pt J L Nehru who was moved to tears.

Song is written by Pradeep sahab & C Ramachandra directed the music, the legend is that Asha was the first choice of this song but later the song went to Lata ji.

No musician/instrumentalist involved charged any money for this song.

The only music director Lata ji never worked with has been O P Nayyar. AFAIK.

She did not work with M Rafi for 3 years till the royalty issue was settled, then they were seen together for dil pukare (jewel thief)

For reason not very well known she didn't work for S D Burman from 1958-62, SDB was very successful those days and it is not difficult to imagine th e stature Lataji commanded then..!

Finally this dispute was settled by R D Burman..then she sang mora gora ang le layi
