Initially I disliked Rajeev for the same reason - cooking and all... but looking at the vengeance he is facing, I have a soft corner for him now... I really wish now he makes it to the later stages of the competition and gives an apt reply to all these derogatory remarks...

this is not his fault. Why so much fuss about him. Please back off. If he
doesnt get the votes he will humbly go back home. Untill them please let
him enjoy his stardom.

People are not angry because he is a cook. People are angry because he
sings out of tune and is picked over those who sing in tune. I believe that
Rashid Khan was a poor illeterate street kid who was picked up by
Sangeet Research academy, trained and now of course is a famous singer.
If Sa Re Ga Ma or AS for that matter care so much then they should
sponsor a music scholarship for less privilged people. I love Rajeev's
voice and I will be very happy to hear him sing when he has the proper
training and can sing in tune. In fact the show is hurting Rajeev the most
by building up his expectations and expoiting his background to increase
viewership all the while knowing that he does not yet have the proper
training to make it as a singer. I have a DVR so I can FF over Rajeev's
besura singing but will Rajeev be able to get back his life with a rewind
button? I think not.

Exactly my thoughts. No one hates Rajiv and folks here have nothing to do with his background. He has a gifted voice and I REALLY like it. But he is not ready for the competition at this level. I also have all his songs on DVR and I can tell you that if anyone who has little understanding of music listens to his songs and then those of Abhijit, Vishwas, Niladri would tell you that Rajiv was lucky to get selected over these guys. Also, for the competition at this level, you can't affort to forget lyric, loose sur or complain that the track was not right. Come on, this contest it at the highest level in the country and you need to prepare yourself well. You can't be forgiven for such blunders. These are the reasons why people are talking against him. No one has anything personally against him otherwise.

And about his background, many of us know that 2 of the greatest actors, comedian Jonny Walker and megastar Rajnikant were bus conductors before they got into films. Our films industry rewards the real talent no matters what your backgroud is. So Rajiv also can make big. He just needs to wait for a while and get to a level where no one can point fingers at him. And then he can compete in the contests like SRGMP Challenge with the likes of Hema and Debu.

My $0.02..

I think Rajeev is a gifted singer and he I am sure he will do a well in his career. But if we/I compare him to Sharib, I think sharib is a gifted singer as well as a trained singer.........so had more preferance for Sharib..........but I think its janata's decision what can we do about it..............

We live in democratic society and should accept the public verdict.

Interesting point. I found this from a website:
http://www.zatang.com//categories/music/hindimusic/vivek/
knowmore.htm
The only singer to survive in the Playback field, without learning the
basics of music was the Legendary Kishore Kumar. But after him, no
untrained singer has ever been able to survive in this field.

I don't remember any besura songs of Kishore Kumar. I also don't want
to bring regionalism into this but I am guessing that his family
background afforded him a good exposure to music. Multiple
biographies will tell you of his exposure to both baul msuic, folk songs,
jazz, etc...Given the sufiana and other classically based songs now in the
scene, don't you think Rajeev needs to be formally trained before going
forward?

harmed u in anyway. He is very well liked by the Indian public and I m
proud of him that he is among last 9. I am sure he will go much farther.
Atleast the people sitting on internet cant harm his candidature. Buri
nazar walee tera muh kaala.

Please stop suggesting that by calling him a cook we are degrading him.
No one is degrading his profession or even him personally. You know
when he was first cut in the first round, my heart broke because I loved
his Yaar Ko Maine which sounded better than the original singer. All the
mentors applauded. But he has progressively sang horribly multiple
times on the show. The reason he got as far as he got was due to poor
performances by others that day and one day by the poor judgement of
Kumar Sanu who has some issues with going besura himself. No doubt
Rajeev has a great voice but it has to be trained. Just beacuse someone is
tall does not meant that they are a good basketball player. I think that it
was wrong of the mentors to give him a pass in the first round with the
track. At this stage, having potential is not enough -- you have to be
ready to perform. If I seem fixated, it simply because he is the most
blatant example of publicity winning over talent. But please let me assure
you that after Rajiv is gone, if Paresh or any of the others get away with
besura singing based on their looks or sob stories, I will be fixated on
that as well!
